Thank you to The Lighthouse Charity Northern Ireland committee for organising such a wonderful fundraising event yesterday in the Titanic Belfast! The lunch was hosted by the incredibly funny Tim McGarry who was able to provide some light to the very serious conversations being heard. We heard about the crucial support the charity offers to construction workers and their families. I would like to thank Andy Bishop for sharing his story and why the work he does with The Lighthouse is so vital. We were also inspired by a panel of top athletes sharing how they too have faced challenges and who they turned to for help. It was a great reminder of the power of community and support. #lighthousecharity

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub Pilot, to support the addressing of the skills shortage within the construction industry. This fantastic initiative, led by Gallagher Group and Flannery Plant Hire, aims to develop a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of the sector. A great day!
🌟 Celebrating the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub Pilot Event! 🌟 Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Lord Blunkett and 250 guests to Gallagher’s Hermitage Quarry in Maidstone, where we showcased the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub Pilot in partnership with Flannery Plant Hire. Over the past 2 weeks, 20 participants have engaged in the Skills Hub Pilot designed to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who have faced challenges in their educational journeys and ex-offenders. Our comprehensive programme combines theory, practical experience, and simulator training, providing participants with invaluable skills for the workforce. The Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hubs will create pathways into the construction industry for local individuals whilst tackling the skills shortage the industry faces.
