What are the risks of poor collaboration? A recent California case resulting in serious penalties for a physician and nurse practitioner shows us what can happen when the proper safeguards don't exist in healthcare collaborations. Much more than a financial arrangement or contractual agreement, healthcare collaboration is meant to foster a mutually beneficial relationship built on effective communication, oversight, quality care, and compliance. mention 72 hour returns are costly for the hospital. Coming back around to how nursing applies I discharge patients myself I ask them. How do we do today? Is there anything differently that you would’ve preferred or do you have any questions? Is there anything else that you need, and naturally people are going to be happy that you even took the time to do this because it’s more of the exception to the rule anymore. People say thank you and that’s when I discuss the survey. I do disclose that my name will allow me to access those involved in their care and I always write my name and the nurses name on the discharge paperwork when those press scores come back on Monday under the comments, I screenshot the comment regarding the nurse and or Registration laboratory, etc.. I forward those positive sentiments to not only the staff member but also to the nursing Director and other key administrators been not result in a raise but what it does result in is better care for the community in addition cohesiveness of the team open lines of communication and when we receive positive feedback and a job well done and also knowing that the people who oversee them also see these comments of their excellent work they hold their heads up with dignity and becomes part of their identity just like it does for all of us. This results many times and decrease turnover of physicians and nurses and other staff because their vested and loyalty develops the words on the walls start to match the actions in the halls. And when team members know that they can come to you with questions regarding how we come to a diagnosis or whatever it is, they won’t hesitate this results in enhanced knowledge and it also makes their occupations so much more fulfilling because they know that they are valued when it becomes part of their identity it’s what all set provides a sense of agency in autonomy hearing or reading an email as to how good of a job they did is not very common, especially when they know that their bosses were made aware and also chime in as to how valuable they are. This is one thing that has made my 11 year career as an ER doctor not just sustainable, but is the kryptonite to burn out at least it’s one of the things that help with the difficulties of the job. Also realizing that our team is the closest thing to family other than our family outside of work because they truly understand what our families can’t understand that sense of lthe
