Last year, the stress awareness focus was on recognizing the demanding nature of work and life, urging individuals to be more deliberate in understanding stress and its management. This year, our theme, "Little By Little, A Little Becomes A Lot," underscores the transformative power of consistent, small positive actions on overall well-being. We published this video last year and its a reminder that dealing with stress requires a conscious effort and being more deliberate about understanding stress and how to deal with it. Workplace violence in healthcare is an alarming issue, disproportionately affecting nurses. The 2024 Nurse Salary and Work-Life Report from nurse.com reveals that 23% of nurses have experienced physical assault, while 64% report verbal abuse. This violence has severe physical and psychological consequences, often leading to anxiety, PTSD, and burnout, with some leaving the profession. Contributing factors include high-stress environments, understaffing, and the opioid crisis. While awareness has grown, efforts like zero-tolerance policies, training, and legislation are vital in preventing violence and supporting affected nurses. Creating a safer workplace remains a crucial, ongoing challenge. ➡️Thoughts on this issue? Want to talk with Vistelar to see how we can help? Where #occupationalhealth lets itself down…. PAY…… The average newly qualified #staffnurse is on £29,995 with a nursing degree. So why are #occupationalhealth #providers advertising for #occupatiinalhealth #nurses with a base salary of approx £36,000 - £40,000 ( Which is less than a #staffnurse in a #carehome ) to complete #safetycritical #medicals To complete a #safetycritical #medical the #occupationalhealth #nurse must have: 1) RGN (Nursing Degree) 2) Occupational Health Degree/Diploma 3) Hand Arm Vibration Qualification 4) Vision and Audio Qualification 5) Skin and Musculoskeletal Qualification 6) Spirometry Qualification 7) Mental Health Qualification If that advert is not a big red flag to Society of Occupational Medicine & Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK that the #employer is abusing #occupationalhealth #practitioners which is an indication of over worked underpaid #employees which impacts the very #safetycritical #medicals they are performing that inevitably leads to #negative #feedback about the over all #occupationalhealth experience. Then please tell me what is!!

PRESSURE WOUND CARE Training in pressure care is paramount as it directly affects people's comfort and prevents serious complications like pressure ulcers. Nurses and support workers are responsible for the daily care of those who may be bedridden or have limited mobility, making them susceptible to pressure injuries. Proper training equips you with the skills to assess a risk, implement preventive measures such as repositioning and specialized support surfaces, and identify early signs of pressure ulcers. By doing so, you can mitigate the risk of these painful and potentially life-threatening wounds, improving the overall quality of care. Furthermore, pressure care training is crucial for promoting dignity and well-being. Pressure ulcers can cause immense physical discomfort and emotional distress, impacting a quality of life. When you are proficient in pressure care, you can provide compassionate and effective care, preserving not only a client's skin integrity but also their dignity. Training empowers you to offer personalised solutions and implement best practices, ensuring the highest standard of care while minimising the risk of pressure-related complications. #DisabilityAwareness #NDIS #Disability #SupportWork #Nursing #RN #InclusionMatters #DisabledAndProud #AccessibleWorld #DisabilityRights #DifferentNotLess #InvisibleDisabilities #DisabledLife #AbilityOverDisability #EmpowerDisabled #DisabilityAdvocate #BreakingBarriers #DisabilityCommunity
