Consilience Group and NACCHO: Strengthening Health Equity in Local Health Departments Consilience Group is proud to partner with the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities. Through this initiative, we’re providing training and technical assistance to local health departments (LHDs) to enhance health equity capacity, focusing on underserved populations like racial minorities and rural communities. Our work aims to bridge critical gaps in healthcare systems exposed by the pandemic by supporting LHDs in applying ethical frameworks that center community voice and promote person-centered and inclusive practices. This partnership aligns with our mission to advance health equity, address systemic inequities, and help build sustainable, equitable public health solutions. Most recently, she showcased her operational expertise at City Leadership, an organization committed to empowering Memphis’ next generation of leaders by fostering connections and collaboration across non-profit, business, civic leadership, and education sectors. With formal education in Corporate Communications, emphasizing management and social entrepreneurship, Emalea excels in operational management, strategic planning, and project management. Her intuition, strong work ethic, adaptability, and positive attitude enable her to thrive in dynamic environments. Emalea is skilled in building consensus and fostering strong relationships to empower individuals and organizations that create lasting, generational change in their communities. Emalea is adept at navigating complex challenges as well as understanding and responding to team dynamics to ensure projects are impactful and sustainable. Meet Khairat Ishola (she/her), a passionate advocate for public health, international development, food security, and gender equity. Her approach to every project combines empathy and strategic insight, ensuring her work not only has impact but remains inclusive of all stakeholders which is key for delivering person-centered services. Khairat’s expertise shines in her ability to utilize research, data analysis, and strategic planning to address unique challenges faced by the communities and organizations she serves. A notable highlight of her career includes her work with the Uganda Village Project, where she helped improve healthcare outcomes for women affected by obstetric fistula. She also gained valuable experience with the Resilience, Sustainable Energy, and Marine Biodiversity Program in the Cayman Islands, contributing to a sustainability framework for climate change initiatives on a university campus. Holding a Masters of Public Administration In Public & Non-Profit Management and Policy, specializing in International Development from New York University and a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Western Ontario, Khairat is deeply committed to driving social impact through her work.
