Under the terms of the agreements signed 18 October 2024, Levanta and CREC will establish a joint venture company that will drive the development of CREC’s onshore wind projects. This strategic partnership will cover the development, financing, construction, and operations and maintenance of Citicore’s 4 onshore wind projects located in Luzon and Visayas, all of which secured offtake via the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) in July 2023 and total 375 megawatts. “We are entering the next phase of CREC’s journey to power a brighter future for the Philippines with the start of our first four onshore wind projects, and there is no better partner to take this step with than Levanta. They bring decades of extensive technical and operational experience to this partnership and to our onshore wind industry.” Oliver Tan, President of CREC. “We are delighted to partner with CREC on the development of onshore wind projects in the Philippines. This partnership marks Levanta’s entry into the Philippines wind market, serving as a key step towards its goal of achieving 1.5 GW of operating capacity across Southeast Asia by 2028. We intend to leverage our partnership with CREC to pursue more utility scale renewable energy projects in the Philippines.” Sudhir Nunes, CEO of Levanta. The partnership is subject to and conditional upon certain customary conditions and is expected to close in the next few months. CREC has a diversified project portfolio comprising of solar, hydro and wind energy, with its wind pipeline targeting 3 GW of operating generation capacity over the medium and long term to complement its 5 GW of solar energy in five years, or until 2028. ### Read about CREC, Levanta, and Actis here: https://lnkd.in/gNP_XAd3 #CREC #Citicore #LevantaRenewables #LetsPowerOn

(ARI), through its subsidiary Luzon Cleanergy Generation Inc. Currently, Ilocos Norte is home to over 100 wind turbines installed across the province, with over 360 megawatts of total generating capacity. The electricity from these wind turbines provide power to thousands of homes in the country. ARI is presently in the initial process of securing the project area through a Special Land Use Permit with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in preparation for the installation of the meteorological mast for wind data gathering. The company is the renewable energy subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation which, together with its partners, stands as the Philippines’ largest owner and operator of renewable energy based on installed capacity. Bangui is the home of the first wind farm in Southeast Asia, being an ideal location for wind power project developments due to consistent strong winds called “Amihan” or Northern Monsoon. ARI began its first engagement with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte in the first quarter of 2021. Following this, it assisted the company by introducing the project team to the relevant local government units and other government agencies. According to officials of ARI, they are looking into Ilocos Norte among other promising areas due to the Provincial Government’s support and investment incentives provided to investors, as well as the active engagement of local communities. Aside from Bangui, ARI is also eyeing several other renewable energy initiatives across various towns in the province. Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc continues to lead the expansion of the province’s renewable energy profile by attracting key investments and strengthening the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

Interesting shift. “In a significant move, British energy giant BP plans to divest its U.S. onshore wind energy business, BP Wind Energy. The decision marks a pivotal shift in the company’s renewable energy strategy, with the sale of its wind assets set to begin in autumn 2024. These assets, which span 10 operating onshore wind farms across seven U.S. states, represent a total net generating capacity of 1.3 GW. However, BP has determined that these assets no longer align with its growth objectives, particularly as it shifts focus towards solar energy through Lightsource BP, the company’s solar energy subsidiary.” “BP’s decision to divest its U.S. onshore wind energy business signifies a major pivot in the company’s renewable energy strategy, as it places greater emphasis on solar energy through Lightsource BP. This move reflects the complexities of balancing investor demands, profitability, and sustainability in a rapidly changing energy landscape. While wind energy has been a key component of BP’s renewable portfolio, the company’s shift toward solar could strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector, particularly as it works towards its ambitious net zero targets.” Environment+Energy Leader Lightsource bp Reuters Contact Energy Ltd bp #environmentalcontent #educate #netzero #emissions
