⚡ The scientific principles championed by Nobel laureate Peter Higgs are key to delivering an electrified grid, writes our CEO Lucy Yu in BusinessGreen 💡 "While, by definition, no model can ever be a perfect representation of the real world, during periods of exponential change, humans are especially vulnerable to dismissing modelling whose outcomes deviate from conventional expectations. The challenge, and need, is ensuring policymakers are receptive to results that contradict prevailing narratives" 👇 Check out the full op-ed below #HiggsBoson #EnergyTransition #NetZero

🚀 Just Published! 🎉 I am excited to share the publication of our second research article, "Boundary Output Feedback Stabilization for a Novel Magnetizable Piezoelectric Beam Model," which is now available in the IEEE database. This study addresses the challenge of exponential stabilization in magnetizable piezoelectric beams by designing non-collocated controllers and observers. We prove uniform exponential stability through a novel Lyapunov-based approach, providing critical insights for model reduction techniques using Finite Differences. Co-authors are Western Kentucky University graduate students UTHMAN RASAQ, Ibrahim Khalilullah. #Research #Math #Piezoelectric #ControlSystems #PDE #Engineering #ModelReduction #Stability #IEEE

Michael Faraday (1791–1867) revolutionized science with his discoveries in electromagnetism and electrochemistry. Despite little formal education, he pioneered electromagnetic induction, invented electric motor technology, and laid the groundwork for modern electricity. Faraday also contributed to chemistry, discovering benzene and inventing the Bunsen burner. His work continues to inspire scientists today. 🔬⚡ #ScienceLegend #Electromagnetism #MichaelFaraday #sciencefilm #sciencefilmmaking #sciencefilmaker #ScienceFilms #ScienceDocumentary #STEMFilm #ScienceEducation #ScienceFacts #ScienceExploration #Telecommunication #ScienceCinema #ScienceInspires

📃Scientific paper: A model for heating the super-hot corona in solar active regions Abstract: What physical mechanisms heat the outer solar or stellar atmosphere to million-Kelvin temperatures is a fundamental but long-standing open question. In particular, the solar corona in active region cores contains an even hotter component reaching ten million Kelvin, manifesting as persistent coronal loops in extreme ultraviolet and soft X-ray images, which imposes a more stringent energy budget. Here, we present a self-consistent coronal heating model using a state-of-the-art three-dimensional radiative magnetohydrodynamics simulation. We find that the continuous magnetic flux emergence in active regions keeps driving magnetic reconnections that release energy impulsively but, on time average, persistently. As a result, numerous sub-structures are heated to ten million Kelvin and then evolve independently, which collectively form long-lived and stable coronal loops as in observations. This provides a heating model explaining the origin of the super-hot coronal plasma and the persistence of hot coronal loops in emerging active regions. ;Comment: 34 pages, 14 figures Continued on ES/IODE ➡️ https://etcse.fr/rEd2J ------- If you find this interesting, feel free to follow, comment and share. Our paper "Revisiting greenhouse gases adsorption in carbon nanostructures: Advances through a combined first-principles and molecular simulation approach" has been published in Applied Surface Science! In this paper, we investigate how many of the potentials used in studies of CO2 and CH4 interacting with carbon nanostructures perform in adsorption studies. We found that the widely used Lorentz-Berthelot rules do not adequately describe these interactions, and present a new parametrization that is much more accurate and transferable. Give it a read at:

As with many other scientific phenomena, the electron transfers that create static electricity can’t be witnessed, but the shock or spark from a discharge provides the evidence. Happy National Static Electricity Day! #fisherscientific #science #staticelectricityday
