Deloitte had the privilege of hosting the Measuring Tech Investments: Strategies for ROI Assessment & Storytelling Roundtable with #WSTA for 25 executives across the banking industry, including those from JPMorganChase, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Citi, UBS, and others. Special shout out to Ranjit S Samra on his leadership at the board of Wall Street Technology Association (WSTA) to promote the dialogue on these important industry topics. Moderated by Deloitte’s Chief Futurist Mike Bechtel, the discussion delved deep into optimizing the synergy between technology and business strategies to spearhead tech transformation. Our distinguished speakers Tim Smith, Garima Dhasmana, Diana Kearns-Manolatos (she/her) shared insights into the archetypes for tech transformation, the reality of where tech investment dollars are going, and the metrics that matter for FSI tech initiatives. Focused Topics Included: - Metrics for Business Value: We explored various metrics, from simple cost avoidance to complex interdependencies among technical teams, aiming to better predict and record business value. - Collaboration Strategies between Business and Tech Teams: Discussion on executing multiple projects simultaneously to maximize efficiency, empowering C-suite leaders by providing options, and building trust incrementally through consistent delivery of initiatives. - Fostering Innovation: Strategies such as offering cash incentives for pioneering efforts, establishing a dedicated budget for future-forecasting teams, and adopting scalable new technologies across organizations were hot topics. To determine your company's value chain, it's important to begin by understanding the 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 in order to create and deliver value to customers. Once you have identified these activities, it's important to map out the relationships between them and identify any areas of potential risk or opportunity. This can help you to better understand your value chain and how sustainability-related factors can impact your business. Keep in mind that the process of determining your value chain can be complex and require significant effort. 📢 5 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧: 1) Organizations with multiple business models. 2) Organizations with joint ventures, associates and investments. 3) Determining the scope of its value chain 4) High-quality external data is less available in some parts of the value chain. 5) Skills or expertise are less available to some entities.
