We welcome the #DraghiReport as a crucial resource in understanding the economic challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we strive towards a #climateneutral and #competitive Europe. 🇪🇺 We fully recognize the importance of enhancing European competitiveness through skilled labour, a level playing field for European products, and security of supply. However, the report’s suggested pathway to achieving this goal is missing a crucial element: #EnergyEfficiency! 💡 This absence highlights a much larger issue. Too often energy efficiency is seen as disconnected from, if not directly opposed to growth. 📈 Energy efficiency is an enabler of growth, making every euro spent on our journey towards climate neutrality much more cost-effective and eliminating wasted resources each step of the way. Cutting unnecessary costs is a golden rule for any sound business leader, so why shouldn’t it be so for economic policies seeking to restore competitiveness. After all, the most secure and competitively priced energy is the energy you never need to buy in the first place! 💸 While we applaud the Draghi Report for its focus on Europe’s need for growth, we firmly believe that energy efficiency, be it in our buildings, industries, and energy system, must be a priority in both our climate and economic agenda.
