Yesterday, the European Commission announced over a hundred companies as the first signatories of the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Pact. Among the signatories are multinational corporations and EU small and medium enterprises from various sectors, including #aeronautics, #IT, #automotive, and #healthcare. The #AIACT came into force on August 1, 2024. However, some provisions will only become applicable at the end of the transitional period. Therefore, the European Commission is promoting the AI Pact, encouraging the industry’s voluntary commitment to anticipate the AI Act and begin implementing its requirements ahead of the legal deadline. The signatory companies commit to at least three core actions: 📌 Developing an AI governance strategy to foster the adoption of AI within the organization and work towards future compliance with the AI Act. 📌 Mapping high-risk AI systems: identifying AI systems likely to be categorized as high-risk under the AI Act. 📌 Promoting AI literacy and awareness among staff, ensuring ethical and responsible AI development. 👉 More Info on the AI Pact : https://lnkd.in/eYgEXMrg? #AIAct #EUAIPact #artificialintelligence #Europeancommission

Artificial Intelligence is often seen as a shortcut to efficiency for resource-constrained public authorities, but this is a misconception. As Laura Lázaro Cabrera, our Equity and Data Director, highlighted during the European Committee of the Regions' Stakeholder Consultation, responsibly using AI is resource-intensive. Public authorities need qualified staff to assess AI’s value, ask the right questions, and manage its long-term impact. Under the #AIAct, they also face additional obligations, including carrying out a fundamental rights impact assessment. Transparency and accountability are critical. Beyond the requirements of the AI Act, public authorities should consider sharing as much information on AI systems used as possible to facilitate public awareness and oversight. #AIAct #ResponsibleAI #PublicSectorAI #Transparency

🚀 Embracing the Future of AI Regulation🚀 Was wonderful to hear from an array of talent last night, including senior civil servants at DSIT, about their approach AI regulation. The government's response to the AI consultation is not just a document; it's a potential blueprint for fostering a thriving ecosystem where innovation and safety can coexist. 🔍 Key Takeaways: 1. Agility & Innovation - The UK is setting a global benchmark by adopting a pro-innovation stance towards AI regulation. 2. Empowerment through Investment - With an investment exceeding £100 million in AI safety projects and research hubs, the UK government is putting its money where its mouth is. 3. Targeted Regulation - A particularly noteworthy aspect is the contemplation of targeted binding requirements for developers of advanced AI systems. This approach aims at ensuring accountability at the forefront of AI innovation. 4. Enhanced Transparency & Confidence - In a move to boost transparency and instill confidence among businesses, key regulators have been directed to publish their AI management strategies by April 30, 2024. A massive thank you to Jamie Bernardi and Erin Robertson for organising last night’s event. 🌟 Get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more! #AIRegulation #Innovation #SafetyFirst #FutureOfTech
