‘Gay job and a day job’: For Pride month, Endpoints News is highlighting LGBTQ+ leaders in the drug development industry for the third year in a row. These 14 individuals are guiding LGBTQ+ employee resource groups; ensuring clinical trials are diverse and representative; launching startups to develop new treatments that their own partners might one day need; paying homage to the patient advocates of the HIV/AIDS epidemic; and so much more outside of biotech (including fun side gigs like running a winery, pub or art gallery, to name a few). We originally planned to highlight 15 individuals this year, but there’s a reason it ended up being 14. It's PRIDE Month 🌈 , and we think it’s an important time to shed light on the challenges  faced by LGBTQ+ adults when it comes to healthcare. According to a KFF report from earlier this year, one-third (33%) of LGBTQ+ adults have experienced unfair or disrespectful treatment or have had at least one negative experience with a healthcare provider. Among those who reported negative healthcare experiences in the past three years, nearly one-quarter (24%) said these experiences worsened their health. 👎 Creating inclusive and accepting healthcare environments is crucial. 🤝 We are excited about the work being done by OutCare in this area. OutCare has developed 'The OutList,' a comprehensive database of LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare providers. Additionally, they provide community resources, health equity CEU training, patient experience design, and more.
