We have been commissioned by the CLIA | Cruise Lines International Association to carry out a comprehensive Global Investment Plan Study aimed at steering the cruise sector towards a sustainable future. The study will cover all areas of the world outside Europe and will focus on a holistic view of the cruise industry's infrastructure and regulatory needs worldwide. It aims to provide clarity on the current status and future developments in fuel infrastructure and deployment over the next 5-10 years. The research will provide a worldwide scenario focused on the cruise sector, mapping real-time energy needs, infrastructure and regulations with foresight scenarios extending to 2050. The outcomes are expected to shape the industry's approach to sustainability for decades to come, setting a benchmark for environmental stewardship in the maritime sector. #MakeItRINA #GrowWithRINA

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌱 Today - every day - we celebrate the commitment of CLIA member lines to sustainability and environmental stewardship, as these efforts and investments support sustainable cruise travel. From embracing cutting-edge technologies to investing in sustainable transitional & alternative fuels, the CLIA member fleet is charting the course for a more sustainable future. ⚡ 120 CLIA cruise-line member ships are equipped to connect to shoreside electricity, with 88% of CLIA member ships coming online between now and 2028 specified for shoreside electricity systems. 📉 CLIA member lines are committed to reducing carbon intensity as an average across the cruise fleet 40% by 2030 compared to 2008 in line with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Revised GHG strategy and are pursuing net zero carbon cruising by 2050. ♻️ CLIA member ships operate with a circular economy philosophy to reduce, reuse and recycle as well as convert waste to energy — on some ships, 100% of waste generated on board is repurposed. 🚿 Cruise ships produce up to 90% of the freshwater used on board through state-of-the-art systems—and conserve and repurpose water rather than draw from areas where resources are limited. 🛳️ #WeARECruise

Carl-Oscar Lawaczeck, CEO of OceanSky Cruises , discusses the environmental benefits of modern large-scale airship travel in this latest article. Air travel is the most carbon-intensive activity most of us will ever undertake. Greenwashing by the aviation sector is widespread, and there is an increased scrutiny from policy makers, with legislation such as the EU green claims directive increasing transparency requirements and pressure on operators. Could airships be the answer to the sustainable air mobility problem? - A recent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) shows that airships emit significantly less CO2 than airplanes and even electric trains. - The required infrastructure for airships is minimal, and minimally disruptive to the environment. - The cruise speed of airships is between that of an aeroplane and a train. Will consumers be will to make a sacrifice in speed to reduce their personal emissions? - Airships are limited by weight, instead of space as with aeroplanes. This translates to a generous amount of space per passenger. What do you think?
