Next-generation defense technology will generate massive heat on a massive scale: the U.S. military's Joint All Domain Command and Control (#JADC2) architecture will encompass all five warfighting domains, consuming power and needing to dissipate heat for an enormous number of systems. Breaking Defense explores this challenge for JADC2 architects and goes into detail on a solution: "The Carbice thermal solution vertically aligns billions of carbon nanotubes to form a highway for heat to move from the hot side of systems to the cold. The result is unlike any solid, liquid, or phase-change material otherwise available." Carbice aligned CNTs are one of the most efficient conductors of heat ever developed and mission critical technology for high-performance systems. As GM Rafael Spears shares, “Power consumption and heat dissipation at the edge ... significantly impact hardware performance, energy efficiency, and overall system reliability, as thermal management is a challenge across all domains.
