The construction of the first stage of our Wambo Wind Farm, in partnership with Stanwell Corporation Limited, is well underway! The foundations are now complete, each standing nearly 4 meters tall and spanning 26 meters in width. These robust structures will support 42 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 6MW and towering over 166 meters high, making them some of the largest onshore turbines in the world! The Wambo Wind Farm will play a significant role in decarbonising Queensland’s energy system and powering its sustainable future. #energisingqueensland #renewables #wambo

It's a double whammy for Wambo Wind Farm—especially now the project is set to double in size and produce double the amount of clean energy. Located almost 100km east of Chinchilla, Wambo Wind Farm will have an additional 42 wind turbines (pictured) and supply more than 500MW of clean energy by 2026. It's an expansion that marks a significant step forward in our journey to transform Queensland's energy grid into a cleaner, more reliable, and resilient system. With stage one already underway and set to supply 252MW of renewable energy by 2025. The green light for stage two will further catapult our state's renewable energy capacity to new heights. Wambo Wind Farm is jointly owned by Stanwell Corporation Limited and Cubico Sustainable Investments, with the $263.3 million expansion funded by the Queensland Government through the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund. The project’s 84 Vestas wind turbines will be some of the largest installed in Australia, at 250m tall, and state-owned network company Powerlink is currently constructing a new 48km transmission line to connect the wind farm to the grid. As we power towards 80% renewable energy by 2035, projects like Wambo Wind Farm, are pioneering change and powering us towards a cleaner, brighter future. #innovation #alternativeenergy #windtechnology

🍃 Renewable Power Capital (RPC) has begun the construction of two wind farms in Sweden, namely Storhojden and Knasjoberget, with a combined capacity of 230MW. This marks a notable progression in their larger project, a 553MW cluster of four wind farms in the Kramfors and Solleftea municipalities. 💨🌍 In collaboration with chemical producer LyondellBasell, RPC has secured two 10-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the electricity generated by these farms. Moreover, RPC has procured 80 Nordex Group turbines, with installation set to begin in the spring of 2025, and both wind farms are slated to begin operations in early 2026. These projects are a significant leap forward in our pursuit to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and enhance sustainability. More importantly, they signify the growing collaboration between chemical industry giants and renewable energy ventures. These players are keen on redefining their energy sources and reducing their carbon footprints. 🌱💡 As governments and industries worldwide make a concerted effort to promote clean energy, this shift towards renewables demonstrates the potential to unlock sustainable, long-term business models. 🎯🌿 Keep up with these inspiring ventures and continue supporting the renewable energy revolution! 💪🌳 For full details: https://loom.ly/hwa8XB8 source: ReNews #renewableenergy #sustainability #cleanenergy #windpower #chemicalindustry #greenbusiness #sweden #RenewablePower #WindEnergy #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy

💡𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱💡 We’re a big fan of renewables! 🍃 Did you know Thursday Island hosts one of Australia’s oldest wind farms? Last week our Executive General Manager, Ayesha Razzaq, attended the relaunch of the Thursday Island wind farm, which has been refurbished to extend its operating life by another 15 years. Ergon Energy Retail has a power purchase agreement with the Thursday Island wind farm, which helps us provide clean, green energy to our customers. Since the Thursday Island wind farm was installed in 1997 it’s helped reduce the community’s reliance on diesel generation, generating more than 18,921MWh of renewable energy. The newly refurbished wind turbines will save an average of 7,000 litres of diesel a week, helping preserve the beauty of the island and reducing carbon emissions. At Ergon Energy Retail we’re proudly one of the largest purchasers of renewable energy in Queensland, supporting the clean energy transition and providing a major economic contribution to Queensland communities. The renewable energy we purchase comes from some of Queensland’s most iconic locations, including the wind farm at Thursday Island, biomass from North Queensland sugar mills, and hydro from Paronella Park near Innisfail. #renewableenergy #torresstrait #windenergy #energytransition #cleanenergy #QEJP

This is the first lifecycle analysis we've seen on windfarm lifecycle analysis using larger turbines and real construction data. Yes, it's in NZ, but it's pretty cool. link for the original article at bottom left of page. Two important takeaways: 1. "After spinning for under two years, a wind farm can offset the carbon emissions generated across its entire 30-year lifespan, when compared to thermal power plants...and....within six months a turbine can generate all the energy consumed across its life-cycle. and... 2. "The research uses data from the Harapaki onshore wind farm in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand -- however the authors of the paper explain that their findings would be replicated across most, if not all, wind farms internationally." #renewables #windpower https://lnkd.in/eygbCRn9

A recent Daily Maverick article illustrated what can be achieved with intention and the will to drive positive change. Whilst we must point out that this initiative does not form part of our investment portfolio, we do celebrate the difference that alternative forms of clean energy can effect. The Brandvalley and Rietkloof wind farms that are under construction in the Karoo will each be able to generate about 590 gigawatt hours of energy per year when completed. That's what we call progress! 🔗https://lnkd.in/dWEEFSsj #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #SouthAfrica
