Our retreading factory in Lusaka is now officially up and running! Get your tyres retreaded the right way by us! 🙌 What is tread reinstallation? Tyre retreading is a process that extends the life of a used tyre by applying a new layer of rubber to the existing tyre casing. This is typically done to the tread area of the tyre. What are the benefits? - Retreading is less expensive than purchasing new tyres, providing a significant cost saving, especially for commercial fleets. - It reduces waste by extending the life of the tyre casing and decreases the demand for raw materials, which helps in conserving natural resources. - The process utilizes less energy and materials compared to manufacturing new tyres. - For many applications, retreaded tyres offer good traction and durability, making them a viable option for both commercial and personal vehicles. - By extending the lifespan of tyres and reducing the number of tyres produced, retreading helps in lowering overall greenhouse gas emissions. #selectedsupplieszambia #retreading #tyres #sustainability #qualityretreading #businesssavings #environmentalimpact #recycling #logistics #lusaka

I'm excited to share my latest article, co-authored with Yusak Susilo and Oleksandr Rossolov, on the adoption of #electric #motorcycle #conversions in Indonesia, which was published last week in #EnergyPolicy Journal. In this study, we explore the barriers, key factors, and willingness to pay for electric motorcycle conversion (EMC). Our findings include: - Both waiting time and conversion time influence the adoption of conventional electric motorcycles (EM) and EMC. - Hardcore oldies motorcyclists are concerned with financial challenges, while all-day riders with mature motorcycles face a lack of information on EMC costs and procedures. - EMC has the potential to complement EM by reducing reliance on internal combustion engine motorcycles. - EMC is particularly attractive to users who rely on older motorcycles for daily use. - Motorcyclists are more willing to invest in EMC if it reduces conversion time and charging costs, especially for older models. We believe this article contributes to the broader understanding of the #EVtransition, offering a way to leverage existing resources. With a focus on electric motorcycles, this research is particularly relevant for Southeast Asian countries, such as Indonesia, which experienced #high #motorcycle #adoption, allowing them to accelerate the conversion scheme. Taiwanese electric motorcycle maker, Gogoro, will launch its first battery swapping station at a Shell service station in August, allowing riders to quickly swap out batteries and stay mobile, instead of waiting for hours to charge up. To gain insights into sustainable mobility solutions in Singapore, Cycle & Carriage Singapore partnered with foodpanda to test Gogoro's Smartscooters and battery-swapping platform under special permission granted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore. Delivery riders participating in the trial averaged 2,200 km per month, increasing the usual mileage by swapping batteries up to twice daily—with each full charge enabling them to travel up to 100km. Three different Gogoro electric motorcycles will be launched by the end of 2024, available for purchase or lease. Meanwhile, other companies like MO Batteries and Evotion Labs are also exploring battery swapping technology in Singapore, with Evotion Labs planning to expand its network by 2024. According to Statista 2024, in 2023, Thailand had the highest motorcycle ownership rate across Asia, with approximately 87 percent of households owning at least one motorcycle. Vietnam followed closely, reaching a household penetration of around 86 percent. Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia rev their way into the top 4 worldwide for motorcycle ownership in 2023! I always thought Indonesia had the highest motorcycle ownership rate in Asia because of its population. With a population of around 270 million or roughly 67.5 million households, each family in Indonesia has an average of 2 motorcycles according to the 2023 Indonesian Statistics data released by BPS. It seems like there is an error in the data from Statista. Statista said In 2022, the number of motorcycles in circulation in Indonesia reached 125 million. And the population of Thailand is 71 million people. If 87 percent of households in Thailand own at least one motorcycle that would be 61,770,000 motorcycles in circulation in Thailand and Indonesia have 125 million motorcycles in circulation in 2022. This data didn't add up... Statista clarified this issue. Thank you.

That is very reflective of the American culture and reliance on larger vehicles. When the price point is much lower, such as associated with two wheeled vehicles, it is easier to make a change to EV. When the scope of travel is much shorter, again, easier to make the transition. Then there is mindset, when you have a more community and environmental perspective, you are much more likely to change. These will all put the US behind the curve.
Asia vs. America: Contrasting Responses to the Electric #Motorcycle Revolution The electrification of transportation has ignited a global revolution, but the responses from Asia and America paint a tale of two vastly different approaches. While electric motorcycles have become a thriving #investment in the Asian economy, garnering attention and support from governments and consumers alike, the American market appears to have largely overlooked the electric wave that's transforming various types of #vehicles, from bicycles to UTVs. At the recent #Asiabike Jakarta event, #Indonesian President Joko Widodo's visit to the TAILG Group booth symbolized Asia's proactive embrace of electric motorcycle technology. TAILG's commitment to developing two-wheeled electric vehicles, coupled with a focus on promoting localization strategies and delivering environmentally friendly, long-range solutions, reflects the region's dedication to sustainable transportation. In contrast, the American market seems to have lagged behind in recognizing the potential of electric motorcycles. Despite the increasing popularity of electric vehicles in general, particularly in the automobile sector, the motorcycle industry in America has been slow to embrace the electric revolution. This oversight extends beyond traditional motorcycles to include other two-wheeled vehicles like #scooters and dirt bikes, as well as utility vehicles like UTVs, which hold significant potential in meeting the needs of farmers and agricultural communities. The discrepancy between Asia's proactive approach and America's apparent neglect of electric motorcycles highlights a missed opportunity for innovation and economic growth in the US. While Asian countries are investing heavily in electric vehicle infrastructure and incentivizing manufacturers to develop cleaner transportation options, the American market risks falling behind in this rapidly evolving industry. As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, it's essential for policymakers, industry leaders, and consumers in America to recognize the transformative potential of electric motorcycles and other electric vehicles. By embracing innovation, promoting investment, and supporting the development of eco-friendly transportation solutions, America can position itself as a leader in the electric motorcycle revolution and reap the economic and environmental benefits that come with it.
