Finally feeling recovered from Hall of Flowers to the extent I can reflect on the event and share some takeaways. First and foremost- thank you to the organizers and city of Ventura for hosting. It was my first time and I really enjoyed Ventura. Some cities make weed feel unwelcome, cough cough Santa Rosa, but I felt welcomed in Ventura even while we were aggregiously blowing tree. There are factions apparent for those who have attended a few of these- people who know how to spend money v people who know how to hustle. The money people lack creativity, the hustlers don’t know any other way. It comes through in the booth presence, marketing collateral, and ultimately the product. Times running out for the money people to learn how to sell herb, cause the herb people are getting the sales/marketing dialed in! It’s obvious who’s here and for what reasons. At least for me, now that I’m learning how to move in CA (half the people are full of 💩, 40% won’t help till it’s convenient, 10% are legit) I can play the game much more effectively and without getting my feelings hurt or giving good intel to crap operators. There is a lane for advocacy and it’s a winning play…run right. I will continually look at 40 Tons Brand as innovators who find a way into every major event without spending an arm and a leg. They do it by partnering with companies who need a reason to be here besides making money. By essentially outsourcing their advocacy to 40Tons they’re able to have a presence, generate awareness, and effect change. Last up, and this one is self serving, but the art element at HoF was amazing! They dedicated an entire hall to art created by people incarcerated for cannabis with the proceeds going to Freedom Grow- an organization that raises and deposits funds for prisoner commissary accounts. I had a piece sell the first day so took a few liberties on day 2 when I saw an empty wall…and then sold some more art, made a live piece, and got to talk to a bunch of advocates about making art an even bigger part of the show in September. Check out the quick recap video, it doesn’t do the 3 days of chaos justice, but there are some cool people featured. Shout out Respect My Region for their 13 year anniversary party and kicking off the trip right! Big thanks and respect also go out to Eric Bello Chris G and Rama Mayo for running the show and coordinating the prisoner art exhibition. As always- thanks to Bloom Network for facilitating these excursions. Holler at me if you’re looking for sourcing, manufacturing, processing, and distro services. Bloom is located in Santa Cruz and serves the state of California’s licensed cannabis market.

📣 Have you ever felt like a silent auctioneer in a big team meeting? 📣 Finding our voice — and the courage to use it — in high-stakes work discussions can be like a bidding war at an auction. Finding the confidence to communicate successfully in a professional setting is a skill that needs to be learnt, just like any other. It comes more naturally to some than others as it relies on mastery of vocal and physical presence. In order for others to listen and really absorb what you are saying, you must have a clear intention and a genuine connection with your words, and practice the techniques needed to control anxiety and nerves. Upskilling in this area will add a huge amount of value to your professional toolkit.

I would like to introduce you to a unique platform, LyfeIndex.com, that offers a solution to a problem many of us face - preserving the details and stories of our deceased family members. Until now, we have lacked a centralized place to find and record the details of our ancestors, particularly their medical histories, which can provide crucial insights into hereditary diseases and disorders. LyfeIndex.com fills this gap, providing a platform where we can document and preserve these important details for future generations. Historically, the narratives of the rich and famous have dominated our history books, while the stories of our own family members, who may not have influenced nations but have certainly shaped our family’s history, have been overlooked. LyfeIndex.com provides a space for these stories to be told and remembered. Our family members have lived rich, full lives, and their experiences, achievements, and lessons learned deserve to be preserved and passed on. By using LyfeIndex.com, we can ensure that their stories are not lost to time, but instead serve as a source of inspiration and wisdom for future generations. I encourage you all to explore LyfeIndex.com and consider how it can help us keep our family’s history alive. #lyfeindex #family #mother #republicday #fatherhood #hardwork #sacrifice #famous

The fourth and final post in our “Breathe the Mission into your Fundraising Event” series. If you haven’t viewed our last three posts and videos, please go back and review to fully understand this specific post. We started this series with that special moment watching the children at Academy Prep Centers for Education passionately saying that daily convocation in the school hall. We then saw the teachers, staff, and alumni leading the guests at the Gala event in reciting that convocation. And how about that impactful video that was shown before the Bid from the Heart (Paddle Raise)? Now it's GO time. Time to maximize the emotional impact and transform emotion into giving. At Auction Horizon, we believe everything that happens on the fundraising stage should be with the intent of maximizing fundraising potential and building giving momentum. The wording is intentional. Gestures are intentional. Energy is intentional. Emotion is intentional. We also know that time is of the essence when it comes to maximizing the money raised. For this reason, we work very closely with the client on timing and scripting. Adrian and Da’Shaun, the alumni featured in the impact video shared in yesterday’s post, were able to attend the event amid their busy schedules. The big question was: How do we incorporate these two gentlemen into the giving moment after the very impactful video without losing momentum and too much very precious fundraising time? The result can be seen in this video. Adrian and Da’Shaun walked onto that stage after the video and became part of the fundraising team. The positioning on stage was intentional. The scripting was intentional. They opened the door for Tarryn to introduce that first big level and maximize the power of the give at $25,000. The final part of breathing that Mission into the audience. The result? $125,000 raised on the first level of giving. A few hundred thousand dollars raised over the remaining levels. To sum it all up, many components go into a successful fundraising event, but MISSION is front and center. #breathethemissionintoyourevent #auctionhorizon #fundraising https://lnkd.in/enV42sf9

OneCause sent me a recent Podcast that they did with my client Steven Cole of Veterans Bridge Home where Steve said some kind things about me as his auctioneer. You can listen to learn about VBH here, but I added the transcript of that section below: Dawn Lynn Lego, CMP - So are you about to tell us how we got there? ($1,000,000 raised at the event) Steve Cole - So right. So one, we hired a professional auctioneer. We've used him, Dan Lyles, for the last, uh.. Dawn Lego, OneCause - Shout out to Dan. Who is that? Steve Cole - Dan Lyles. And I'll make sure we've got you his business card because he's worth it. You can't have him on May 17, 2025, because he's ours. Dawn Lego, OneCause - Okay. He's got his dance card full on May 17, 2025. Steve Cole - But otherwise, you're welcome to him. And he's great. What I really appreciated about Dan, as a professional auctioneer, is that he is not afraid to give his opinion about how he thinks things should work. DanLylesAuctions.com, L, Y, L, E, S, Dan Lyles. All one word. He's not afraid to give his opinion. Like, hey. I think you should do this. I think you should, you know, don't have more than eight live auction items. Don't use the fifty-thousand-dollar challenge pledge until we get to the paddle raise at a thousand dollars. So, his willingness to be an expert in the things that he's expert in is what I think, I appreciate most about him.
