You must be thinking how is that possible right? The liver and kidneys are closely interconnected, and issues with your liver can indeed lead to kidney problems. This relationship is often referred to as "hepatorenal syndrome," where liver dysfunction can result in kidney impairment. Interesting, right? How Does This Happen? ✅ Cirrhosis: Chronic liver damage leading to cirrhosis can cause decreased blood flow to the kidneys, resulting in kidney dysfunction. ✅ Hepatitis: Viral infections like hepatitis B and C can cause inflammation and damage to both the liver and kidneys. ✅ Alcoholic Liver Disease: Excessive alcohol consumption can damage the liver and subsequently lead to acute kidney injury. These examples show how crucial it is to maintain liver health and prevent kidney complications. To know more about this connection and what precautions you should take, watch the reel! #LoveYourLiverMonth is based around spreading the importance of your liver’s vital role in keeping you in good health. The liver is a fascinating organ and its importance is often underrated. It’s an amazing multi-tasker and has over 500 vital jobs to do to keep you alive. It’s just as important as other organs like your heart and lungs, but they tend to steal most of the limelight. In the UK, liver disease is on the rise. The three major preventable causes are drinking alcohol, obesity and viral hepatitis. When it’s damaged, the liver can repair itself, but only up to a point. Sadly, people with liver disease often don’t have any symptoms until the disease has progressed and it’s far too late for treatment. That’s why it’s so important to know the risk factors and to keep your liver happy and healthy for life – before long-lasting damage can occur. Take your first steps towards better liver health today. #CommunityAmbulanceService #CareConnectedtoCommunity

We very rarely talk about oral health when it comes to chronic disease risk. But the two go hand in hand. Increasing evidence supports a two-way link between chronic disease occurrence and poor oral health. Those with 🦷 Cancer 🦷 Heart Disease 🦷 Respiratory Disease 🦷 Autoimmune Diseases 🦷 Eating Disorders 🦷 Osteoporosis 🦷 Diabetes 🦷 Obesity Exhibit a higher risk of 🦷 Dental caries 🦷 Total tooth loss 🦷 Periodontal (gum) disease For some chronic diseases, we see a reverse association is also true. Diseases originating in the oral cavity may cause a system-wide inflammatory response that spreads through the bloodstream and contributes to disease progression in other parts of the body. Similarly, the mouth can hold pathogenic bacteria that then enter into the bloodstream and contribute to the pathogenesis of other body tissues. You can reduce your risk of chronic disease AND oral health conditions through simple lifestyle changes 🦷 Don’t use tobacco 🦷 Limit alcohol use 🦷 Maintain a healthy weight 🦷 Drink plenty of water 🦷 Limit sugary foods and drinks 🦷 Brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash daily Dental health belongs in the discussion of chronic disease prevention. Oral health conditions are incredibly preventable with proper self-care and routine dental care. #OralHygiene #DentistDay #DentalCare #ChronicDisease #DiseasePrevention

Hepatitis refers to inflammation of the liver. It can be caused by viruses, such as hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, or by other factors like alcohol, drugs, or autoimmune diseases. Hepatitis can range from mild to severe and may lead to symptoms like jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), fatigue, abdominal pain, and in some cases, long-term liver damage or liver cancer. World Hepatitis Day is a crucial reminder of the importance of liver health. To the general public, especially the youth: please be mindful of habits that can lead to hepatitis. Avoid sharing needles, practice safe sex, and be cautious with alcohol consumption. Stay informed, get vaccinated, and seek regular medical check-ups. Your liver health is vital, and taking these steps can protect you from serious diseases. Let's work together to eliminate hepatitis and promote a healthier future. Liver Cirrhosis: Causes, Symptoms, and the Impact on Health. Cirrhosis is a chronic condition in which the liver is slowly damaged over time, leading to the replacement of healthy tissue with scar tissue. This scarring prevents the liver from performing vital functions, such as detoxifying the blood and producing essential proteins. Common causes of cirrhosis include chronic alcohol consumption, viral hepatitis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Early symptoms are often subtle, but as the disease progresses, patients may experience fatigue, jaundice, and fluid buildup in the abdomen. Understanding cirrhosis is essential for prevention and management of liver health. https://lnkd.in/ec3_6ZKw #LiverCirrhosis #Hepatology #MedicalEducation

Liver diseases can be unnoticed, often manifesting without noticeable symptoms until they've advanced. From fatty liver to hepatitis, these conditions can quietly undermine your liver's health over time. As fat accumulates in the liver cells, it can lead to inflammation and scarring, potentially progressing to more severe conditions. Similarly, hepatitis, whether viral or autoimmune, can also quietly undermine liver health until symptoms become apparent or complications arise. Regular screenings and a healthy lifestyle are crucial for early detection and protection against liver damage. It enables healthcare providers to implement appropriate treatment strategies. Leading a healthy lifestyle is also crucial for keeping your liver in good shape and stopping any harm before it gets serious. 1 in 4 Canadians may be at risk for liver disease 😮 A decade ago the risk was identified for 1 in every 10 Canadian. This rise may be attributed to a growing number of people who continue to deal with metabolic diseases and obesity, as experts suggest that our changing lifestyle choices may be at play here. Additionally, getting vaccinated for preventable liver diseases is key and using medications wisely is always encouraged. Guidelines for alcohol consumption were also updated last year and may slowly have an impact on the overall liver health of Canadians. Check out this video by Canadian Liver Foundation on how to improve overall liver health. #LiverHealth
