In 2024, we secured planning consent for an ambitious residential-led regeneration project in Southampton. The site previously had planning permission for an 11-storey PBSA scheme - an inward-looking development that offered little to the wider community. Our revised proposal is a 17-storey co-living scheme designed to deliver meaningful regeneration. This project not only meets the needs of residents, the operator and the investor, but also brings wider community benefits beyond the site boundary - an example of our Positive Legacy Commitment in action. Key features include: ▶️ Community spaces – A new South Yard, creating opportunities for pop-up businesses as the neighbourhood evolves, alongside a café that will be accessible to all ▶️ Public realm improvements – Creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for existing residents and those moving through the area, with improved routes across the railway to encourage connectivity ▶️ Biodiversity improvements– Delivering more than 3500% net gain through nature corridors at ground level and a mix of green and brown roofs at upper levels. A truly regenerative approach that can enhance the city of Southampton and deliver lasting value. #CoLiving #SharedLiving #ForABetterTomorrow #BiodiversityNetGain #Southampton Urban Wilderness Curtins CPW James Alexander Design
what a fantastic first project to have worked on with you all! ⭐️
Such an exciting project - congratulations.
Looks like you've done another amazing job here, congratulations Sue Churchill and all the team at Church Lukas. Not so far from home in Hampshire, I'll have to pop on down for a gander sometime!

2wLovely project to be involved with… Securing six additional levels of accommodation beyond an existing consent - one already considered at the upper limit of acceptable scale - was a challenge. Through thorough analysis, thoughtful design and meaningful engagement we demonstrated how the additional height could not only be accommodated but also enhance both the scheme and its wider context.
