"Punching above our weight" - Pardon the pun following Kelly Harrington's boxing Gold medal, but that should be #Ireland's official motto, because it's true. What an achievement for a small country of just 5m people to not only win 4 gold medals so far at the Olympics, but also to have the highest productivity, the highest standards of education, of food production, and the nicest people in the world. I am inspired by this country's (and my team's) human resources and resourcefulness, and this ability to do it with a smile. In many ways, the Herdwatch journey would not have been the same anywhere else, or maybe even possible, because our business motto could also be "Punching above our weight" - We have always tried to do the right thing with limited resources, for farmers and ranchers, for our amazing team, for our communities, and we have built a fast-growing international business, a beacon of Irish #Agtech supported by fantastic Irish structures such as FRS Co-Op, Local Enterprise Offices in #Tipperary, AgTech Ireland, Renatus and of course Enterprise Ireland who have stood by us for many years in our international journey. Finally, none of this would have happened without Ireland's membership of the European Union - for all its failings (and it has many), the EU has brought people closer and given me and millions of others opportunities that did not exist just 30 or 40 years ago. (For those who don't know, I came to Ireland on an EU-funded ERASMUS student programme for a year, and never went back...and wasn't thrown out!) If it wasn't clear already, I am extremely grateful to have been "adopted" by the people of Ireland and #Roscrea. I will always be a proud French man, and love both nations (I have dual nationality), but Ireland has given me so much, including my wonderful wife Antoinette and daughter Amélie, and I will continue to do my best to give back. Maith thú agus go raibh maith agat Éire 🙏👏💚🇮🇪 PS: Ireland is officially 12th on the Olympics medals table (which is amazing) but actually 3rd on the "Gold medals per capita" table!! I think that table should be used officially alongside the other one - China are pretty much last on that one and the USA are 29th! "Olympics Glory in Proportion" as the website says 👇

Olympic gold medals per 1 million people The New Zealand & Netherlands ranks impressively high, and it got me thinking—what’s behind this success? What are your thoughts? Why do you think these countries excel in this metric? #Olympics #SportsScience #Netherlands #Australia #NewZealand #SportsExcellence #MedalCount

This is very critical for those of us who may live by themselves! Is there someone who looks for you on a regular basis? For some of us who are use to going hard and forgetting to take time out and may be slowly sinking noticed! Thanks for shsringvtii go is article.
"At the World Championships in Budapest in June, USA’s Anita Alvarez sank to the bottom of the pool. Looking across the deck, then noticing she was under way too long, her coach, Andrea Fuentes immediately dove in after her fully clothed, pulling her to safety. Anita was unconscious and didn’t have the capacity to kick, paddle, or help herself in any way. If Andrea had not have noticed, she would have drown. But she knew Anita. She looked for her, quickly noticed she was under too long, (nore than normal) then dove in without thinking twice. This has resonated with me…. When you are under too long, who are the people that will look for you, notice you aren't surfacing, and dive in to pull you to the surface when you lose your strength to swim in life? Who are the people that would do that for you? And can someone count on you to be that person that would go looking and notice when they are under too long, diving in to support them when they are all out of fight and fuel to swim in these turbulent waters we call life? Empowering professionals to break free from corporate America through franchising | Advocate for Green Compass Botanicals
As an American who loves sports and competition, I really enjoy watching and reading about the Olympics. I also take pride in the fact that the United States is always at or near the top in medals won. As of August 8th, we've secured 95 medals, with the next closest country, China, at 67, and host country France with 51. U.S. dominance! But what does that look like when comparing countries by their population and medals won? The website Medals Per Capita does just that, offering a unique perspective on Olympic success. For the 2024 Summer Olympics, the ultimate winner per capita is the tiny Caribbean nation of Dominica. With a population of just 67,408, they won their first-ever Olympic medal (GOLD!) in track and field. On the other end of the spectrum is India, with a population of 1.4 billion and only three medals this Olympics, translating to one medal per 468 million people. The U.S.? We rank 42nd with one medal per 3.6 million people. As Nelson Mandela once said, "Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does." There are many ways we can be present for each other. We can "check in" with each other, cheer up someone with a kind gesture, or if we see someone struggling under water in life, we can dive in for them like this coach did. Get in tune with your people, know how to help them, and stay plugged in. You might have to jump in with all of your clothes on and pull them to safety. It might be when you are at your weakest point too, BUT, you might have a little more gas than they do. This is why Vets who suffer together in extreme and often hostile circumstances make great leaders, as well as great followers - sometimes the boss needs a buddy check as well. Put this into immediate practice in your workplace and let's be there for each other.

As a leader in the business world, it is harder to notice when your people are going under or have been under too long if you don't have significant meaningful interaction with them. In this age where a large number of employees telework, it is important to have points each week where you can check on them. When an employee starts feeling overwhelmed, they can quickly start spiraling downward. It is also important to create an environment where employees can come to you if they are struggling. As a leader how do you create an environment where you can see those going under? And does that environment encourage them come to you before they sink?
