The Defense Department is preparing for the 12th chapter of its Global Information Dominance Experiments (GIDE), focusing on enhancing its Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) network. GIDE 12 aims to improve global integration, streamline joint kill chains, and advance data-sharing efforts among U.S. military services and international allies. The initiative will build upon last year’s minimum viable capability, which has already seen real-world use, and will emphasize Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Coalition Collaborative Planning capabilities. This effort is part of the Pentagon’s strategy to achieve a more connected, data-driven approach to decision-making in military operations. GIDE 12's goals include shifting from a regional to a global perspective in military collaboration, enhancing the coordination of integrated operations, and overcoming complex challenges in secure data sharing across allied forces. The upcoming experiment will test these expanded capabilities in a robust operational environment, aiming to achieve true global integration and readiness for real-world use. By leveraging advanced digital collaboration, the Pentagon seeks to outpace adversaries and potentially deter conflicts before they arise, according to Col. Matthew Strohmeyer, mission commander for GIDE 6 at the DoD’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). #dod #gide12 #cjadc2 #militaryinnovation #globalsecurity #defensetechnology #jointoperations #datasharing #digitaltransformation #alliances Source- https://lnkd.in/gDNgkQfg

In a concerning development, China has replaced its People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force (PLASSF) with the Information Support Force (ISF), highlighting the growing importance of information warfare. This shift comes at a time when the U.S. is downsizing its information warfare capabilities. In a 2022 War on the Rocks article, the author points out that China's "intelligentized warfare" concept aims to use AI to manipulate the will of policymakers, military leaders, and citizens. Again, this comes at a time when the U.S. de-emphasizes information power in resourcing and prioritization. This is a critical wake-up call for the U.S. to prioritize information warfare investment. #China #InformationWarfare #NationalSecurity #greatpowercompetition #geopoliticalrisk #CCP #PLA #strategiccompetition #AI Jake Auchincloss Seth Moulton Michael Waltz Mike Studeman https://lnkd.in/giUgsYfM

It’s interesting to watch and see how different countries are investing in information. In some cases, very little investment can result in effects that are virtually immeasurable. What do you think? Is the U.S. appropriately postured to effectively compete in the information environment? What organization within the United States Government is best postured to effectively engage in the information environment? How can the U.S. best coordinate and synchronize what the Department of Defense calls “operations in the information environment?” Is it time to bring back an organization similar to the United States Information Agency (USIA) or are the current interagency processes sufficient to take the lead in a synchronized approach to drive narratives in the information environment? How does one go about assessing this type of risk? Is it possible to mitigate this risk or just manage it? There are just so many questions! #China #InformationWarfare #NationalSecurity #greatpowercompetition #geopoliticalrisk #CCP #PLA #strategiccompetition #AI #strategiccommunication #influence #usia #miso #psyop #aiml

The US Department of Defense (#DoD) continues to struggle with the adaptation required to meet the era of #global #strategic #competition. Pentagon strategists have clearly explained the imperative, but the Department has yet to realize that both its functionality and form are not up to the task. The DoD’s impediment is twofold: a regionally focused operational organization and a primary focus on the operational military aspects of competition. To maintain US National Security and uphold the US-led international order that enables it, the DoD must rethink how it coordinates, integrates, and executes competition activities. A wealth of documentation already exists on how exceptionally well-suited US Special Operations Forces (SOF) are to integrate and lead a global competition campaign.[ii] However, despite the impressive capabilities of the US SOF Enterprise, it too is largely impeded by the same geographic boundaries as the larger DoD. Furthermore, as most strategic competition occurs in non-military fields of play (diplomatic, economic, informational, legal, financial, etc.), competition is a strategic challenge that cannot be approached by a military structure alone. The proven structure of a Joint Inter-Agency Task Force (#JIATF) is well suited to address the later challenge. The former issue will require an entity with the experience, presence, and perspective to effectively serve as a #transregional #integrator for #strategic #competition.
Function… then Form: Rethinking the Operational Command Structure of US SOF

The Silicon Valley-headquartered Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) released a new solicitation in its search for computer hardware to support forward-deployed forces. The request for proposals is for DIU’s FrontierNode project, which comes at a time when the Department of Defense is looking to boost its command, control, communications, computers and intelligence capabilities. The Pentagon is pursuing a Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJAD2) concept, which aims to better connect networks, data, platforms, sensors and shooters across the U.S. military and partner forces. That effort intends to help commanders make faster and more informed decisions. https://lnkd.in/gyaYfY-b

U. S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) is using a new Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) product to help pass and digest data amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, according to a top officer. The Pentagon’s JADC2 warfighting concept aims to connect sensors and shooters from across the U.S. military under a more unified network to enable faster and more effective decision-making and employment of forces, with the aid of artificial intelligence and other enabling tools. In February, Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks announced that the “minimum viable capability” for it “is real and ready now.” https://lnkd.in/e-mz8Rbn
