Driven by the love for the ones that come next 🌱 Sustainability is not a side issue for us at ddm hopt+schuler – it’s a core part of everything we do. Perhaps it’s also because we’re from Swabia? Wasteful behavior isn’t exactly in our DNA. With our new sustainability strategy, "Driven by the love for the ones that come next," we’re setting a clear example: We think about tomorrow today and take responsibility for the world we leave behind. As a family-owned business from the Black Forest, it was already the mission of our founder, Rudolf Hopt, to create a better world for his descendants. His goal was to build something bigger than himself and enable a good life for future generations. We’re carrying this vision forward and ensuring that the generations after us will have a good life. What does this mean in concrete terms? - We are committed to climate protection and CO2 neutrality - We promote sustainability through digital technologies - We focus on people: building a healthy organization for healthy individuals - We conserve the environment and resources for a sustainable future We firmly believe that economic success and ecological responsibility can go hand in hand. Our vision: A good life for the generations to come. We’ll soon share more about our specific goals. We invite you to join us on this journey. What are your thoughts on sustainability in business? Let’s start a conversation! #Sustainability #Innovation #DrivenByLove #InLoveWithThoseWhoComeNext #ddmhoptschuler #FutureThinking #TogetherForTomorrow

What an incredible discussion at Pure Strategies: Connecting Climate and Nature with Planet-Forward Strategies during #ClimateWeekNYC! It was inspiring to hear examples of ways that companies can align climate initiatives with nature-based solutions to drive meaningful, planet-forward strategies. In the life sciences industry, addressing the intersection of climate and nature isn’t just about environmental stewardship—it’s also about enhancing patient outcomes and building more resilient healthcare systems. By integrating nature-based solutions and sustainable practices, we can contribute to a healthier planet while advancing innovations in healthcare.
I just returned from #ClimateWeekNYC, and what an inspiring week it was! — I had a great catch-up with Omar Mitchell, fellow MIT Sloan School of Management alum and sustainability lead at the National Hockey League (NHL). Meeting at their headquarters, we discussed the league’s commitment to sustainability across operations and partnerships, and its efforts to preserve the legacy of the game. — I joined the "Cashing Out of Carbon" session at the Burton Snowboards NYC store hosted by Clean Creatives, where brand leaders shared the big changes they're making in their procurement and banking, to steer clear from fossil fuel investments. Thanks to Kate Ogden, Ashley Orgain and Nimerta Sirichand, CFA (Seventh Generation) and Paul Moinester (Topo Finance) who explained how any company can be a part of this historic shift in corporate sustainability practices. — My main focus of the week was Wednesday: Pure Strategies, Inc.'s "Solutions for Scale" event delivered a full day of dynamic sessions aimed at advancing climate and nature solutions! From exploring practical applications like reducing land footprints to innovative approaches in supply chain management and regenerative agriculture, the event provided participants with a clear roadmap for driving meaningful environmental progress. Attendees engaged with sustainability leaders, learned actionable steps from industry experts, and left with new tools to enhance their own climate and nature programs. Many thanks to our speakers including: Joel Makower (Trellis Group), Alyssa B. (NYC Bird Alliance), Jerome Del Porto (Walmart), Joselynne Fynboh (General Mills), Kyle Cahill (Takeda), Kristin Edie (Hallmark Cards), Becky Martin (Toyota North America), Daniella Malin (Cool Farm Alliance), Margaret Henry (PepsiCo), Katie Anderson (Environmental Defense Fund), Ryan S. (Danone), and Kendrick Repko, MS, RD (Ahold Delhaize USA). And now, Pure Strategies' "START NOW" Call-To-Action has just launched! We'd love for you to be a part of it. Super excited to be working on this project. This is a real passion project initially emerging out of ideas co-developed with Professor Camille Baker over the years and now within VOICE-community with others who have championed and supported emergent artistic practice; Waag Futurelab Lizbeth Goodman SMARTlab Brunel University of London Royal College of Art INOVA+ EURICE – European Research and Project Office GmbH As a practicing artist, engaged in non-object-oriented situated practices, I encountered a recurring issue: artists were frequently brought into projects at the very end, after a long line of systemic failures, and expected to solve deep-rooted societal challenges. We're asked to address everything from gang violence and community transformation to saving the world, all while offering "outside-the-box" thinking (a phrase I’ve never been fond of—many artists don’t even recognise that there is a box). However, a very real issue lies in the fact that, while the unique value artists bring is often acknowledged, the indicators used to measure success come from value systems that are not aligned with artistic practice. In my doctoral research, I analysed 50 years of arts for social and environmental impact across the USA, Ireland, UK, and Europe, with a particular focus on residency, intervention, and embedded practices. Additionally, I identified 15 distinct roles artists play within these contexts, which are often overlooked. This is was the underpinning of the permaCultural resilience praxis (the pCr methodology). It’s a whole-system approach to eco-social practices, built for artists by an artist, standing on the shoulders of the incredible artists whose work I studied. These types of practices differ because an aesthetic outcome isn't a primary goal—it’s present in all we do, working beyond the gallery it is also process-oriented, emergent and seeks to affect change. Working from project conception, through development, implementation to evaluation, the goal is to ensure that artists are recognised and valued on their own terms, particularly within emergent and eco-social practices, help then capture and reveal all they do, as well as furthering systemic situated and practices within the 'wicked context of the #VUCA world'. I’m thrilled and proud to see the pCr methodology, a consilience of art and design, being able to support more artists in their vital work, as well as working with and learning from them. #EcoSocialArt #ArtAndSociety #ArtForChange #CreativeMethodologies #CulturalPractices #EmergentPractices Creatives for Climate Collective Creative Futures Academy Creative Ireland The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Arts Council Malta Eamon Ryan Iveragh Task Force / Tascfhórsa Uíbh Ráthaigh June O'Connell Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin, T.D.
