At DAM, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality Coal Mining Risk Assessment and intrusive cored and non-intrusive geophysical investigations where required. Recently we have seen a majority of other consultants move to purely rotary open-hole investigations, relying solely on the on-site driller (and any supervising engineer - often none) to record a loss of flush accurately. We see this as high risk, especially on residential sites. This is especially relevant when considering the 2021 CL:AIRE guidance on mine gas risk and the strong focus Local Authority's are placing on this. So the question is - why as the statutory regulator do The Coal Authority deem these forms of investigation acceptable? Is it simply enough that someone else is taking the risk? I wonder when the first incident will happen because of substandard mining GI? #coalmining #cmra #groundinvestigation #rotary #drilling

Enhancing Safety and Efficiency in High-Gas Mines with Innovative Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Gas disasters remain the top challenge limiting safe production in high-gas coal mines. At #CCTEG, we have built on our extensive experience with directional long-hole extraction to introduce the groundbreaking “multi-use per hole” technology. Our team has developed proprietary high-pressure hydraulic fracturing techniques specifically for directional long-holes in mine roofs. By designing customized high-pressure sealed drill rods and packers, we effectively overcame the difficulties of increasing fracturing peak pressures and addressed ultra-high pressure safety concerns. Our specialized fracturing solutions have achieved remarkable results, including: --Softening the roof of the working face --Reducing initial pressure intensity at the working face --Improving the efficiency of top coal caving --Preventing mine shock pressure --Enhancing efficient gas extraction from mines These advancements have not only boosted safety and operational efficiency but also earned unanimous praise from mining companies and local regulatory authorities. We are proud to contribute to safer and more efficient coal mining operations and remain committed to advancing mining technology for a sustainable future. #CoalMining #SafetyFirst #Innovation #HydraulicFracturing #CCTEG #GasExtraction #MiningTechnology #SustainableMining

CMRA rotary microdrilling investigation of shallow mine workings in Greater Manchester following on from a coal mining risk assessment (CMRA) report by our Manchester Office from an initial call to Geoinvestigate's innovative Mineshaft & Sinkhole HELPLINE. Rockhead at 8.5m, intact coal 12m, workings 24m, EOH 30m. Concerns about ground instability arising from high frequency percussive DTH & Top Down HAMMER drilling, its safety and logging accuracy led our client to the smart, environmentally conscious decision to opt for Geoinvestigate's less destructive, safer, small volume full water flush, higher sensitivity rock profiling, rotary Microdrilling system. On describing the difference between the two percussive hammer drilling was likened to c1800s amputation by hacksaw vs modern day keyhole microsurgery with Geoinvestigate's Microdrill. Another factor in microdrills favour was restricted access to the site sealing the deal. #Siteinvestigation #Coaldrilling #Mineworkinginvestigation #Miningrisk #CMRA #Boreholeservices #MiningConsultants #Manchester #CoalMining #Minedrilling #Microdrilling #MineshaftHELPLINE #SinkholeHELPLINE

When it comes to mine searches and intrusive follow-on drilling investigation of UK coal mining legacy Geoinvestigate has its feet firmly planted on Terrafirma so to speak. We provide both expert mining risk assessment reports with practical cost effective solutions for all types of development from ev charging stations new housing, commercial units of all sizes to 230ha solar farms. This week one of our teams was once again back in Durham probing suspected shallow mine workings. Introductions made through our Sinkhole & Mine Shaft HELPLINE while assisting the public can also lead to follow-on work as well as keeping a finger on the pulse and an ear to the ground of changes in the business and the mindsets of regulators, consultees and competitors. Acquiring knowledge and changing and growing with it is vital to developing a successful long term business strategy and ensuring job security. #minesearches #miningreports #coallegacy #mininghazards #miningrisk #CMRAs #mineshafts #shallowmining #coalreports #siteinvestigations #Durhamplanning #buildingservices #miningconsultants #coalauthority #coaldrilling #miningboreholes #drillingservices #drillpermits #coalinvestigation #mininginvestigations

The streamlined planning and #mining method of the Jia Yang Coal Mine model To enable shearer operators at the surface to focus on coal cutting while monitoring the operation comprehensively, #CCTEG team applied dynamic video monitoring. This system dynamically adjusts the video layout according to the cutting process, allowing for zooming in on specific areas and automatically focusing on observation targets. During coal cutting in the middle the working face, the video system automatically zooms in on the drum monitoring screen and remotely focuses on the cutting near the drum. During end-face cutting, the system enlarges the monitoring both roadways, focusing on the coal wall near the drum, ensuring precise turning of the #shearer at both ends of the working face. By achieving multi-screen monitoring with dynamic video monitoring, our system minimizes manual intervention, allowing coal miners to focus on their operations while ensuring comprehensive video surveillance. As we transition to regular surface mining operations, CCTEG team has implemented deep interconnectivity and control among multiple systems and equipment to safeguard personnel and equipment safety effectively, ensuring the smooth progression of regular surface mining in Jia Yang #Coal #Mine.

We designed, supervised, implemented, and reported a multi-phase investigation to support the site remediation and construction a Place of Worship in Consett. The seemingly straightforward scheme encountered a range of challenges, including potential ground subsidence associated with historical coal mining, generally poor ground conditions and contamination including “Blue Billy” and hydrocarbons. If you are in the #miningsector and you are looking for ways to enhance safety for your personnel on site, then look no further than the Sentric Safety Group. We know all about keeping people safe in harsh and safety-critical environments, and the mining industry is no different. The industry faces numerous challenges and risks, and often there is potential for hazardous energy release. Trapped key interlocks, such as the ones we offer, provide a heightened level of safety compared to the Lockout-Tagout (#LOTO) systems often used in mining applications. The key distinction lies in the physical interlocking mechanism employed by trapped key systems, which creates a strict order of operations. Miners must follow a predefined sequence to isolate and control energy sources, which means human error is mitigated, and personnel remain safe. Take your safety to the next level with us, and rest assured that with #trappedkeyinterlock technology, you are providing an additional layer of safety for the people who work on your site. Get in touch with us and see how we can make your mining environment a safer one.
