Self-reliant leadership is about embracing responsibility and resilience in every aspect of life. The book "Becoming A Self-Reliant Leader" by Rutherford and Jordan delves into how true commitment, rather than mere compliance, fuels effective leadership and engagement. They advocate for pushing oneself through challenging experiences, or "crucibles," to foster personal growth and team leadership. The concept of facing adversities head-on to emerge stronger and more capable is inspiring. Developing grit and compassion is crucial in leading effectively while fostering trust and camaraderie within teams. Ultimately, how we handle our personal challenges can transform our leadership journey. #Leadership #Resilience #Growth

How does your organisation approach leadership development? According to an article for The CEO Magazine, organisational success starts at the top and quality leadership has the biggest impact on the bottom line. However, there seems to be a global urgency for improved leadership. 📈 Gallup reports that leaders account for at least 70% of the variance in employee engagement scores. 📈 Furthermore, research by OC Tanner suggests that a lack of appreciation is a major factor driving employees to quit their jobs. So, what can be done? The article suggests that businesses need to dedicate more time and effort to developing their leaders, focusing on the humanity of leadership. Future leaders need to be encouraged, nurtured, and guided holistically, balancing the head and the heart of their roles. Does your organisation have a similar approach? Which Leadership Style Defines You? Is the dominant leadership style in your organization leading to these outcomes? · Decreased Employee Engagement · Weak Organizational Commitment · Poor Sales Performance · Higher Turnover Rates If so, it might be time to rethink your leadership approach. Leadership styles have a direct impact on organizational results, whether positive or negative. So, which leadership style characterizes your approach? Is it command and control, bureaucratic, charismatic, autocratic, or servant? Each has distinct implications for the health of your organization and its people. This summer, I spent a lot of time reflecting on and researching various leadership styles, with a particular focus on servant leadership. The term "servant leadership" was coined by Robert K. Greenleaf, the founder of the modern servant leadership movement. According to Greenleaf, servant leaders are leaders who put other people’s needs, aspirations and interests above their own. As Greenleaf famously said, “Good leaders must first become good servants.” The true test he said of a servant leader is whether those they serve grow as individuals. Do they become healthier, wiser, more autonomous, and more likely to serve others? Additionally, how does their leadership impact the least privileged in society—do they benefit, or at least, are they not further deprived? Empirical evidence underscores the critical role of servant leadership in organizational success. By embracing servant leadership, leaders can foster an environment that not only drives high performance but also nurtures the growth and development of every team member, ultimately leading to a more engaged, productive, and resilient organization. I’d love to hear your thoughts—how do you see servant leadership playing a role in your organization? Do you think it could make a difference in the challenges you're facing?
