A small perforation – a big significance 🌟 At DAMPA, we design a variety of acoustic solutions for ceilings and walls, all featuring perforations in the metal surface. But why are these perforations so essential? What impact do they have? 🤔 Discover the importance and benefits of perforations in our latest article 🔽 In the article, you will learn more about: 👉 Why perforations are key to the acoustic effectiveness of DAMPA’s solutions. 👉 How different absorption types are employed with perforations. 👉 What to consider when selecting a perforation pattern. 👉 Why larger perforations aren’t necessarily more efficient. 👉 How perforations can also be used for ventilation and other climate integrations. How can telescoping sliding doors support design flexibility? They: - Eliminate swing arc trajectories - Provide the widest opening within the smallest framing dimensions - Allow multiple entrances and exits And when they are specified as full-lite assemblies, they can support visual connection even when closed. WHY IS A SEAM NECESSARY IN LARGER SIZES? One of the limitations of acoustic lighting fixtures is scale. That’s because acoustic PET felt is typically produced in 4′ x 8′ sheets (like a sheet of plywood or drywall). This limited seamless acoustic offerings to 48″ or smaller. Any fixture over 48″ requires two panels butted together with a seam and additional hardware to span the entire fixture. The seam by itself was not visually appealing. So OCL Architectural Lighting developed a unique… and quite clever solution. They hid the seam within an “etched” bevel cut pattern – allowing larger scale acoustic panels on their fixtures, and a unique and fun pattern that conceals the seam needed to achieve this scale. It’s exciting to imagine the possibilities of OCL Architectural Lighting's Etched Panel (EP) Acoustic in your next project. Learn more here: https://hubs.ly/Q02g2Hwt0 #lescolighting

Foundations of Lighting Design (2/3) V. Light impacts you on a deep biological level. It determines whether you’re awake or asleep through its chronobiological effect, influencing the hormones your body produces. VI. Light is the greatest visual asset there is. If light is all you see, the quality of light determines your perception of all other assets. Colours, materials, texture, finishes, form are all subject to the application of light. It is both the visual medium and the message. VII. Light is the dynamic component within static space. Your perception of the same static physical space can be transformed through a change in light. Think of a landscape under midday sun, then at sunset, then at night. Use this understanding to transform architectural space. VIII. Light infuses architecture with energy. Literally. Light is energy which enters your brain through the eye. How you apply this energy within a building imbues a space with vastly different qualities. --- Photo by Braxton Apana / Unsplash

🌞 Architectural #SunStudies: Illuminating Design 🌞 As architects, we don’t just create buildings; we shape experiences. 🏢☀️ 🔍 What are Sun Studies? Sun studies, also known as solar analysis, are our secret weapon for #DesignMagic. Where we study how the sun dances with our structures throughout the day. 🌟 Why Do They Matter? • Natural Light: Sun studies help us harness natural light. Imagine a room bathed in warm morning rays or a cozy nook kissed by the setting sun. • Energy Efficiency: Proper orientation reduces energy consumption. A well-placed window can save kilowatts. • Shadows and Drama: Shadows tell stories. They sculpt facades, create drama, and transform spaces. 📐 How Do We Do It? • Shadow Diagrams: We map shadows at different times of day and seasons. These diagrams guide our design decisions. • Solar Path Analysis: We track the sun’s journey across the sky. It’s like choreographing a celestial ballet. • Passive Solar Design: We optimize window placement, overhangs, and materials. The sun becomes our collaborator. 🌎 Impact on Sustainability Sun studies aren’t just pretty pictures; they’re sustainability superheroes: • Cooling: Proper shading reduces AC needs. • Heating: Sun-warmed spaces mean cozy winters. • Daylighting: Less reliance on artificial lighting. • Harmony: Buildings blend seamlessly with their surroundings. 🔆 Next Time You See a Building… Remember, it’s not just bricks and glass. It’s a dance with the sun—a symphony of light and shadow. 🎶

The Distinctive Edge: Sound Absorbers vs. Sound Diffusers Sound management within a space is a nuanced endeavour. It’s not just about dampening unwanted noise; it’s also about sculpting sound to create an environment that’s both acoustically pleasant and visually striking. This is where the distinction between sound absorbers and sound diffusers becomes crucial. Sound absorbers are designed to minimize sound reflections by absorbing sound waves. They work well in reducing echo and controlling excessive reverberation. However, they can sometimes give spaces a muted, overly controlled feel. This is where sound diffusers step in, offering an ingenious way to manipulate sound waves while preserving the vitality of the space. Sound diffusers scatter sound waves in various directions, preventing excessive buildup of sound energy in specific areas. This diffusion process not only maintains acoustic balance but also adds a unique character to the environment. Above View’s range of sound diffusers does this job brilliantly, and their versatility is matched only by their stunning design. . . #diffuser #sounddiffuser #interiordesign #soundquality #acoustic #acousticians #acousticdesign #interiordesigners #designers #architects #interiorarchitects #sounddesign #architecture #ceilingtiles #ceilings #aboveviewinc #aboveview . . https://lnkd.in/dCrCVH-Y

From illustration to installation Invi Air Reduces Noise Levels. Only architects and designers can really appreciate the great design significance of Invi Air’s game-changing, true architectural, non-metal products. Invi Air diffusers are installed completely behind the drywall leaving, barely in sight, only a frameless slick slot—US Patent Number: 11378301. Being part of the overall design, Invi Air’s products should appear in any preliminary design illustration right from the get-go and come to life as the designed project is completed with Invi Air’s products installed as planned. Invi Air’s smart composite material absorbs sound, significantly reducing ambient noise levels by up to 50% compared to metal grilles and vents. Standard aluminum vents can amplify the vibration and whistle of moving air. Due to our unique composite construction and limited restrictions on the rear of the diffuser, noise is limited. We strive to design our diffusers for less than 15 NC.
