#GreenDeal and #EuropeanElections: What to Expect? In this episode, I focused on the fundamentals of the #EnergyTransition, which is not a whim or an ideology, as some call it, but a necessity, especially for our continent. Since the 1980s, Europe has recorded temperature increases twice the global average rate, making it extremely vulnerable to extreme climate events. The results of the latest European elections unfortunately indicate that something will change: the push for decarbonization will not be felt with the urgency of a few years ago. And that is a real shame because those who believe that the Green Deal is the cause of the ongoing economic crisis fail to understand that slowing down the energy transition will condemn us to #economicIsolation and #energyDependence. #Renewables, #batteries, and #electric mobility are economic sectors destined for exponential #growth globally, thanks to reduced costs of technology and massive investments by #China and the #USA. In Europe, defining ambitious goals and regulating is not enough: we need significant investments, especially to create a European supply chain. The slowdown expected post elections will inevitably result in a further reduction of Europe's economic and political standing and a severe industrial backlash. The answer is not to slow down but to accelerate because European industry must hurry to make up for lost time. Italy is playing a crucial role in renewables. It is important to remember that: Yes, it is the safest technology for producing energy. Yes, it is the lowest-cost technology for producing energy. Yes, it is the safest and most economical technology accessible to everyone to produce truly clean energy. NO, it is not an unreliable source of energy production; renewables will become programmable thanks to BESS installations and AI applied to weather forecasting. The democracy of safety, competitiveness, and accessibility might not be appealing to everyone; #decentralization does not allow for the defense of strong economic interests in the hands of few entities. But let's talk about this ideology, which is indeed the real threat to Europe's industrial (and also climatic) future, if anyone cares.
