In 2024, The International Olympic Committee – IOC and the Gangwon 2024 Organizing Committee launched the very first sport metaverse experience for the Youth Olympic fans with a mesmerizing virtual world that allows users to engage in games and compete against one another — marking a successful integration of sports and the metaverse. The metaverse is undeniably successful in entertainment, with an estimated  800 billion dollars by 2028 and 400 million active users. With the metaverse, fans can interact with their preferred teams and players inside of virtual stadiums, purchase virtual merchandise, have access to VIP spaces — in its turn giving businesses opportunities for revenue.
