**Decathlon launches new subsidiary to build, invest in and acquire innovative businesses** French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has launched a new subsidiary that will be dedicated to identifying and developing new growth drivers. An independent entity within the group, DECATHLON PULSE will explore new ways to expand Decathlon’s footprint and invest in innovative people and businesses that share its values. This will include building new concepts with strong potential to create standalone new businesses, investing in highly innovative companies, and acquiring forward-looking sports brands and sporting goods distributors that have “trailblazing” business models. Decathlon has appointed Franck Vigo as chief executive of Decathlon Pulse and Decathlon global chief executive Barbara Martin Coppola as chair. Vigo has worked with Decathlon for over 20 years, most recently as general secretary. Vigo said: “Today marks an exciting new journey for us as we launch Decathlon Pulse, driven by a passion for sport and a singular vision to continuously enhance our impact on people’s lives. Decathlon has 101,000 employees and 1,750 stores worldwide. Since 2018, the company has invested nearly €400 million in start-ups, small companies and the acquisition of majority stakes in brands like Alltricks and Bergfreunde. Link to article in comments.

The global sports and wellness market is vast and filled with untapped potential. Our desire is to find the smartest and most inspiring ways to encourage people in every corner of the globe to fall in love with sports. Decathlon Pulse will accelerate our goal of building happier and healthier societies. I have been following Decathlon for a while now and find that they have really lived the "game" before buying into the "game". What I mean by that? When brands want to do good, they create a program related to CSR or even have large foundations to direct funds for social welfare. Few brands have lived, breathed and executed their purpose of driving profit in alignment of their purpose of doing good in a way that: 1. Uplifts the whole fraternity that is connected to the industry 2. Transforms the entire ecosystem to help the realize their own journeys and build a vision for the future 3. Encourage sports and brands to not give up on the social responsibility angle of a healthier future Only a brand that's authentic in its vision and action, and aligns all the parts that build a world related to good health and sports, can so effortlessly weave the pieces together to launch something so valuable. This is not just a cause or an initiative or a "good to have purpose". Make no mistake, it is geared 100% at growing the brand in lateral ways which companies have forgotten how to do these days. Amer Sports reports strong Q1 sales growth 👏 The Finnish sporting equipment company, which owns brands Salomon, Arc'teryx Equipment and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. has reported a 13% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2024. Total revenue for the quarter surpassed $1.2bn with net income increasing to $39m. The group saw DTC sales increase by 41% with double-digit growth across all regions. APAC performed particularly strongly with revenue up by 34%, mainly down to a 51% increase in Greater China. James Zheng, CEO of Amer Sports, commented: "The momentum behind our strong financial performance has continued through the first quarter of 2024, as we delivered sales and profitability above our guidance." “Our transformation to a brand-direct business model four years ago continues to fuel profitable growth today, and our high-performance technical products are resonating with consumers globally.
