Here’s a whimsical thought to keep in mind when forming a multi-functional team for a project. Think about Bacon and Eggs. When making bacon & eggs note that the pig is committed and the chicken is involved. Get as many pigs as you can on your team.

Each ingredient, like each team member, plays a crucial role in achieving the perfect balance and success of the team.

If I'm being honest, sometimes the hardest part of a project is getting out of the way and letting my team work. When working on any project, surrounding yourself with a committed team you can trust is crucial. Knowing that you have reliable people engaged on each aspect of the project is important for the health of the project. No great achievement is a solo endeavor. It takes a collaborative effort to deliver exceptional results. Trusting your team members and their abilities allows you to focus on your own responsibilities, confident that everyone is working towards the same goal. Sometimes the hardest part is letting go of some aspects of the project and trusting your team to bring their best to it. Let your team do what they are good at and get out of the way. Am I the only one that has a hard time letting others get fully involved in a project sometimes?

There are some stages for developing the team:- 1- Forming :The team members meet and learn about the project and their formal roles and responsibilities. 2-Storming :There are disagreements as people learn to work together. 3-Norming :Begin to work together, the team members learn to trust each other. 4- Performing :Team members work effectively together as well-organized unit. 5- Journing :The team complete the work and move on from the project.

Reading 'The Five Dysfunctions of a Team' by Patrick Lencioni. Fascinated by his exploration of the core problems hindering teamwork: absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results. Building trust seems to be the foundation for a truly high-performing team. A must read book.

What have biscotti got to do with creating the perfect team? Baking biscotti at Christmas has become a family tradition. When my girls were at primary school, I used to bake batches for the teachers at school. The first time I baked biscotti, I was sure I was doing it wrong. The dough was so sticky. Then you add a huge pile of fruit, nuts and zest. As you knead the dough, you think it's never going to come together. But you keep going. You trust it will work out because you've done it so many times before. Soon it gets smooth and easy. The fruit and nuts are properly distributed. You have the perfect dough. Just like creating a team. At first everything feels sticky and lumpy. You can't see how it's going to work out but you have confidence in the process. Then the team starts to bond. There's a cohesiveness and collaboration. All the right skills assigned to the right tasks. A high-performing team is a thing of beauty. It's inspiring to watch a team come together and get the project done, with just the right amount of zest and spice.

Food has an incredible ability to bring people together. Sharing a meal during a team meeting or casual gathering can develop camaraderie, inspire conversation, and create a sense of oneness among team members. Furthermore, eating excellent meals together can enhance mood and create positive memories that help build a strong team culture. From pizza parties to potlucks to team meals at a good restaurant, there are several ways to use food to create friendships and improve teamwork. 😋
