Food has an incredible ability to bring people together. Sharing a meal during a team meeting or casual gathering can develop camaraderie, inspire conversation, and create a sense of oneness among team members. Furthermore, eating excellent meals together can enhance mood and create positive memories that help build a strong team culture. From pizza parties to potlucks to team meals at a good restaurant, there are several ways to use food to create friendships and improve teamwork. 😋

What makes a team truly excel? The best team results are produced when the leader places a high focus on people and a high focus on accountability. I was chatting to a friend the other day, and it reminded me that a strong team culture isn't just about caring; it’s also about setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable. The Blake Mouton model (attached) illustrates this perfectly: without both, you risk leading a ‘Culture Club’ with great vibes but no results.

I learned today that something as small as buying pizza for lunch for your employees can means more than you realize. On a side note, some employees may also find this as so much a small act that it is almost disrespectful. It all comes down to perspective and knowing your team. What did you learn today? I would actually like to know.

Did anyone ever notice that a mille-feuille is a perfect parable for a professional team? No? Just me? Ok. 😁 You've got the crusty dough layers, which are those coworkers that come off a bit harsh at first glance, but get softer once they become comfortably integrated parts of the team. You've got the soft, creamy layer, which is the gentle professional who always knows just what to say to soften his crusty colleagues. You've got the crumble which at first glance seems broken into pieces, but always manages to contribute something important to the team (and to the dessert). And of course, you've got the coulis which has a really strong taste that has the potential to overpower the dessert, but ends up bringing it all together. This is the leader who strikes just the right balance between control and delegation, enabling each person on his team to work individually while presenting a united front. The beauty of a great team is not in its uniformity, but in its diversity. Everyone can contribute something different, and with professional respect, understanding, and cohesiveness, the end product will be fabulous.

What does a culture team do for team building? Well the answer is lots. First, we like to test out fun and exciting stuff on ourselves. Second, we just love unique ideas. So when we met Jennifer Keable we knew we had to collaborate. So last week we did a meditation and high performance workshop with our whole team. It was pretty wild how much they enjoyed it. Even those who were on the fence or unsure of meditation had great feedback. So thanks Jen. We appreciate you and can’t wait for the next one!

Ready to lead a high-performing team? 🚀 First, let's address the elephant in the room: Trust. 🐘 Breakdowns here lead to the 5 dysfunctions of a team. ➡️ Fear of conflict: If you trust each other, healthy debates are not scary. ➡️ Lack of commitment: Trust leads to faith in team decisions. ➡️ Avoidance of Accountability: When trust exists, teammates hold each other accountable. ➡️ Inattention to results: Mutual trust keeps everyone focused on shared goals. Remember, a solid team is built on trust. Get that right, and you're on a path to greatness! 🌟

Dealing with disputes amongst the team members in the restaurant - - While handling a team, there are times when the colleagues broke into disputes amongst themselves due to misunderstanding and miscommunication which are quite a common phenomena, however handling them sensibly can harness peace and tranquility amongst themselves. - It is imperative to hear both the colleagues intently without interrupting them while ensuring to understand their concerns and to de-escalate the issues. - Foster a sense of exclusiveness, the importance of their roles and responsibilities in the operation can help them jell around with each other. - Holding regular team meetings can help them understand each other which can further diminish the chances of friction amongst themselves.

Today we welcomed a new team member 👏 What you see: people gathering, eating cookies 🍪 and drinking milk 🥛 (cookies in the cafe, obviously) and engaged with each other. What you don't see: the game that we were playing, which was hilarious, insightful and encouraging. Every time someone new joins our team, Drew Harden makes up a game. You never know what it's going to be, but you do know a few things for sure: 1. It will be hilarious & fun 2. It will be super random 3. It will shed light on our culture 4. It will help the new employee see a little of each person's personality 5. It will be something everyone looks forward to happening again and is glad we did it Today's game: 1. Say the name and the job of the person on your left (department, general job area) 2. If they (the person to your left) had a stand at the farmer's market, what would it be? Can you guess what David Wanat said mine would be? Comment your answers below 👇
