Today is AI literacy day (https://lnkd.in/efDWDeya), a perfect time for us all to reflect on our own AI literacy, and to do some AI play! I am a proponent of playful learning in most areas, and I think it's a great fit for learning about and creating with AI, especially at this early stage where no one quite knows the best uses of this particular technology for education. Teachers, students, learning designers, everyone should not feel pressure to understand how AI works already, but rather we should adopt a playful mindset of experimentation and iteration. Mess around with an AI tool to push the boundaries and see what comes out, share ideas with a friend and remix them, create something silly or useless - that's playful AI! #ailiteracyday #playfullearning #edtech #learningdesign

AI Literacy Day marks a nationwide initiative to explore "What is AI?" This day of action aims to demystify artificial intelligence for students, parents, educators, and community members and fuel conversations about responsible AI usage. Our resident expert on the topic, Jared Colley, has this to say, “The future is here, and it involves powerful generative AI technologies whose signs and outputs could easily be mistaken for wonders. How many of us really understand how AI works? As we aim to adopt the right AI tools, platforms, and applications, we also have to develop in collaboration with our students an AI literacy, an understanding of AI, that informs how we respond to the signs and outputs of these wondrous, yet unpredictable, machines. Otherwise we will be doing a lot of unlearning in the near future, much like we’ve had to do with Social Media over the last decade. AI's impact on our global society, economy, and even our daily lives has already begun. At The Tech, we understand it is imperative to prepare future generations for the age of AI by integrating AI literacy into our educational systems. Achieving this goal with fidelity and speed is a task that requires the collective effort and collaboration of dedicated partners. The Tech Interactive is one of three flagship sites in USA to promote EDSAFE AI, Common Sense Media, AIEDU, and AI for Education in celebrating the first National AI Literacy Day on April 19. While at a session at the ASU+GSV AIR Show last week, I learned at a session featuring Alex Kotran that today is National AI Literacy Day. This is a nationwide day of action exploring the fundamental question, "What is AI?" There are so many great synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities; I encourage you to check it out. Below are some AI platforms I have found useful to increase my personal productivity and my work with The Paratum Scholars. ➡ Otter.ai: Otter is an essential tool to enhance productivity and streamline conversations. I love its voice-to-text transcription and is very useful for brainstorming ideas wherever I am. ➡ Harpa.ai: HARPA can summarize and reply to emails for you, rewrite, rephrase, correct and expand text, read articles, translate and scan web pages for data. ➡ Magic Design by Canva is an AI design generator that uses AI to create custom, on-brand, and attention-grabbing design in seconds Curious, what platforms have you found useful as you have explored AI? #AILiteracyDay #edtech #asugsvair #education #artificialintelligence #aiined
