Happy Memorial Day, everyone! As we honor those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country, it's also a perfect moment to reflect on our daily routines. Yes, habits can be incredibly beneficial—they streamline our lives, help us achieve our goals, and reduce stress. But, have you ever thought about the down side of being too habitual? On Memorial Day, when we step back to remember and reflect, it’s a good time to consider how our routines may be holding us back from truly engaging with the world around us. Think about it! When was the last time you took a spontaneous road trip or tried something out of your ordinary? Habits, while comforting, can sometimes keep us in a bubble, away from new experiences and opportunities. They can create a false sense of security and even stifle creativity. So, while I appreciate the structure habits bring me, I’ll use my day off to inspire me to break them. To honor those who’ve shown immense bravery by embracing a bit of that spirit myself. I’ll try something new, challenge my routines, and I might just find a fresh perspective waiting for me. Here’s to striking the perfect balance between cherished habits and new adventures! The word for Memorial day is “Sacrifice.” It's the idea that we give away something precious—the best we have—to show our pure intentions or to help others. So, here’s a question for you... What have you sacrificed? Have you given away your happiness? Have you sacrificed your creativity for comfort and security? Have you sacrificed your dreams to support yourself and your family? Or traded your smile for a life of struggle? Did you become reasonable and responsible because you became a parent? Of course we sacrifice for our children, but we're not supposed to give away our lives or stow our dreams— that's serving no one. We can’t sacrifice our selves. Sometimes sacrifice seems almost selfish, like taking care of your health so you can take care of others. Or becoming your best so you can provide and support from that heightened position. Or to live out your truth so that you can give from your abundance and not to create poverty or lack. It can mean making yourself happy first, so you can be a guide and an example to everyone around you. If you are looking for things to sacrifice try your frustration and your stuck-ness. Sacrifice your regrets. These are the things to give away, get rid of and burn in the BBQ🔥. Everything you want is still inside of you. It's never too late to get it all back. When you're willing to sacrifice in order to create more, you get to know who you are and how far you can stretch. You can expand your life to encompass the needs of others and to create work that inspires, entertains and delights. When you give of yourself—and not give yourself away, then your work is a Gift and you become aware of the depth of your soul and creativity and find the love for others that makes life worth living. ... Developing your ability to manage your thoughts and attitude is the start a prosperous and abundant life. Did you ever realize that finding out what you all have in life shows up after asking the question "what am I grateful for?". Ingenuity starts with gratitude, as this simply helps you in becoming aware how much you actually have around you. In 1986, my father co authored a study developing a four item structured self report scale. This article reviews the psychometric properties and tests the concurrent and predictive validity of a structured four-item self-reported adherence measure which can be easily integrated into the medical visit. Results showed the scale to demonstrate both concurrent and predictive validity with regard to blood pressure control at 2 years and 5 years, respectively. This tool became known as the Morisky Green Levine or MGL /MAQ and is the most highly cited article in medication adherence in the world, even to this day being used in standard practice in the largest institutions in the world. https://lnkd.in/g8C_ATZR
