Our new report, Fight For Our Future: ACT Now for Disabled Children, is live. It paints a painfully bleak picture where families have to fight day in, day out for their child’s basic needs.
We’ve found that families and professionals on the front line feel that disabled children and their families are simply not a priority, and their needs are forgotten.
Our findings show:
- Only two in five families feel their child has all the specialist equipment they need
- Three quarters of professionals are similarly concerned by unmet equipment needs in their area
- Over the last year, 60% of local authorities have seen assessment waits grow and nearly half have reduced their equipment budgets
- One year waits for assessments are the new norm, with some waiting as long as three years
- 8 in 10 professionals are concerned by long waits in their area
We are calling on the government to make disabled children a priority, by ACTing now, and committing to establishing a dedicated Minister for Disabled Children, but we need your help.
There are many ways to support us; you could sign our petition, share our social media posts, or make a donation to support our specialist equipment services. If you’re a family or professional, we’d love to hear about your experiences; your stories, in your own words.
