We all try to save lab costs, but being penny wise and pound foolish is not really saving lab costs. In the fast-paced world of scientific research, it's crucial to know where to invest and where to cut back. This is especially true for primary tissue dissociation tools – an area often overlooked, yet pivotal for the success of downstream applications. I've just penned a new blog post diving into this very topic, highlighting why skimping on quality in primary tissue dissociation can be a false economy. ✨ Thrilled to share that our latest work has been featured on the front cover of the 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐁! ✨ Our recent paper, titled "𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡: 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬," explores the synthesis and systematic study of methacrylated chitosan hydrogels (CsMA). By using response surface methodology, we developed empirical models that allow us to predict and tune the physical properties of CsMA hydrogels—opening up a wide range of possibilities for tissue engineering applications. Elmarco Talks: Tissue Engineering on Electrospun Scaffolds - BioPapers and Beyond Date: 18 April 2024 Time: 15:00 (GMT +2) Speakers: Stephen Farias, James Dolgin While the established methods involve the use of soluble small molecules, growth factors, stereolithography, and micro-patterning, electrospinning involves an inexpensive, labor un-intensive, and highly scalable approach to using environmental cues, to promote and guide cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. In this review, the focus will be on the mechanical and physical characteristics such as porosity, fiber diameter, crystallinity, mechanical strength, alignment, and topography of the nanofiber scaffolds, and the impact on cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. 🌟 Excited to share the Cover Story of Bioengineering, Volume 9, Issue 3 : Study of the Adhesion of the Human Gut Microbiota on Electrospun Structures. 🥼 This paper authored by Francesco Biagini, Marco Calvigioni, Carmelo De Maria, Chiara Magliaro, Francesca Montemurro, Diletta Mazzantini, Francesco Celandroni, Monica Mattioli-Belmonte, Emilia Ghelardi and Giovanni Vozzi . 💡 Here, the authors describe how a complex microbial community, i.e., the human gut microbiota, adheres to a surface to form stable biofilms. The results indicated that the electrospun gelatin structure without the mucin coating was the optimal choice for developing a 3D in vitro model of the human gut microbiota. It is indeed the time to iDISCO with this modified approach!!🕺 https://lnkd.in/geHYPx_S Say goodbye to haziness and hello to crystal-clear images of intact organs! ✨ Cleared tissues can become opaque over time, hindering accurate reimaging. This new method based on iDISCO involves methanol dehydration, delipidation with dichloromethane, and RI matching with dibenzyl ether. ✨ The protocol by Haylee Mesa, Jonathan Meade, Paula Kurdziel, Randy Blakely, and Qi Zhang at Florida Atlantic University effectively rescues opaque tissue samples, allowing for longer storage and repeated imaging without compromising immunofluorescence. Click on link 🔗 and learn more about the protocol! Bio-protocol sincerely thanks Hong Lian and Oneil Bhalala for reviewing the work. #TissueClearing #imagingtechnology #techniques Do you have a protocol that can contribute to scientific clarity and reproducibility ?
