Despite the thriving digital economy, women continue to be significantly underrepresented in the workplace, specifically in the STEM fields, where they comprise only 2 in 10 jobs. This gap hampers inclusive economic growth and limits the full potential of the digital economy. The DCO's Unified Framework for Empowering Women in and Through ICT enables stakeholders like governments, corporations, and NGOs to design targeted initiatives, fostering economic growth, a more diverse technology workforce, and progress towards achieving the UN SDGs. Happy International Women's Day (March 8th)! Today, and every day, we are grateful for the phenomenal women in #PrinceEdwardIsland, and around the world, who are working to create a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. As the image below from the RBC Climate Action Institute shows, only 28.6% of workers in Canada's environmental and #cleantech sectors were women in 2021. This year's #IWD24 themes are "Invest in women: Accelerate progress" (UN) and "Inspire Inclusion" (IWD website), over the coming years we hope to remove barriers and inspire many who identify as female to enter careers, lead sustainable change within their organizations, conduct research, and/or start businesses in cleantech on #PEI. We appreciate the efforts of all those who strive to create opportunities, mentor and coach women, and raise awareness for more women to consider careers in cleantech and who aim for gender inclusive workplaces, boards, research labs, access to capital, and panels. #internationalwomensday2024 #womeninSTEM #InspireInclusion #cleantech #iwd #investinwomen

The digital divide... "This exclusion, referred to as the digital divide—or 'the gap between those who can access the dividends and opportunities of the digital economy, and those who cannot' — is particularly pronounced for women." From being less able to access digital devices and services, to being less represented within them, women in many places are unrepresented and disadvantaged, particularly women in rural areas. The digital divide is the worst in developing countries. We need to address this problem from the inside out. "Providing women with these technological tools will not automatically spur gender equity and economic activity. Women must be included in the development of the digital ecosystem so that these tools better serve their needs and are relevant to their daily lives" #DigitalDivide #WomenEmpowerment #Equity #DigitalEquity

📢 #IWD2024: Why does investment in and inclusion of #women matter? “This is the way we want to build the future. Women face specific challenges and opportunities that differ from those of men in health, education, work, and leadership. Therefore, when addressing global issues such as poverty, climate change, or human rights, it is important to consider the different perspectives and needs of women and men. If these specific challenges and opportunities are ignored, the problems will remain unsolved and bright opportunities will vanish. For 2024, I advocate to promote women’s inclusion on governance projects, creating a more diverse, balanced, and representative leadership and bringing the views of women into the decision-making processes.” – Claudia Anton, Deputy Director, Project Management Division, DT Global EU, Spain🇪🇸 #WeAreDTGlobal #InvestInWomen #InspireInclusion
