DEA hosted its annual Small Business Fair in Portland, connecting local small businesses with DEA staff to foster opportunities and partnerships. This event is part of our commitment to supporting disadvantaged, emerging, woman-owned, and minority-owned businesses. By bringing together clients, project managers, technical staff, and small business representatives, we aim to build strong teams for future projects and reduce barriers to contracting. Thank you to all who attended and contributed!

Executive Assistant | Strategic Business Manager | Founder | Premium administrative support that enables Australian businesses to thrive.
On Friday’s, we celebrate. We’re toasting to this week’s wins 👇👇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🏆 Signing two new clients 🏆 Soft launching our new “Ultimate Life Hack” package 🏆 Workshopping a potential joint venture with a respected Canberra business 🏆 Pitching to and locking in meetings with potential clients ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These wins represent a lot of work over the past few months, during which time the business landscape changed and became very quiet. I’ve looked at this new landscape through a lens of opportunity; taking time to “look under the hood”, get creative, become more visible, go back to my roots of traditional marketing (*read, pounding the pavement), invest in my network and find (and pitch) synergies with complementary businesses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My brother always says “don’t wait for a problem to solve itself. Go out and solve it yourself.” I’ve identified my competitors and done the opposite, I’ve leant into personal interactions not automated ones, my team and I have worked behind the scenes on improving client experiences, I’ve relied heavily on the internal strength passed down to me, and I’ve optimistically waited for the momentum to take hold. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To our potential future client, luckily for you, we’re not slowing down. We’d love for you to be our next big win. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To my fellow business owners, I’d love to know your win for the week. No matter how big or small, each deserves to be celebrated. Remember, little by little, a little becomes a lot. Re-gain your momentum. Reach out to another business owner to brainstorm (my phone is always on and I love thinking up fun ideas for businesses other than mine!), book that free discovery call with a business coach, and always be humble and hopeful. Have a wonderful weekend, you deserve it!

We love celebrating wins, it's a ritual we adopted for all of our clients before we start every class. As small business owners, it's important to celebrate wins no matter how big or small. We spend so much of our time working in and on our business that we forget to slow down and soak in everything we accomplished. So we want to hear and celebrate them. What WINS have you had this week so far? . . . #FirstSIpStudios #CelebrateYourWins #Winning #BusinessSuccess #SmallBusinessOwner #ContentMarketing #DigitalMarketing #PittsburghPA #ColumbusOH #BusinessOpportunities #BusinessMindset

Partnerships, alliances, coalitions, or just teams, whatever you call them, it’s important to have them. We all need allies who have our back. I’m so grateful they do. #gotyourback #businessleadership #golfforcharity #communityengagement #financialplanner
Yesterday was the annual Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance golf tournament (Briefcase Open), and we were a proud sponsor of the event. Megan Lucas and her team do such an incredible job of fostering an environment where businesses grow and jobs are created. It’s an honor to partner with such great people.

Here’s what most founders don’t know about the judging process for a pitch: I’m grateful for the honor to have not only helped pick FedEx grant winners before, but recently support the TiE Dallas selection process for the Singapore finals. ➡️ if you don’t follow the pitch rubric to a tee - you will be seen as less coachable ➡️ despite a rubric - it’s not the ONLY factor in selecting a winner ➡️ spending too much time answering judges questions during Q & A cuts time & makes you look nervous ➡️ the allocation of funds & services is a major factor in selecting a winner - how confident did you make them in your ability to execute? ➡️ they choose the one suited to best represent the organization at the end of the day Choosing to participate in a pitch opportunity can be extremely daunting. I’ve been there. I’ve been stressed, nervous & wanted to back out. 👉 BUT I NEVER regretted jumping in to hone my skills & grow my network. If you have the chance to pitch for a grant or live - go for it because you won’t regret it.

Imagine having to pay to go to an awards ceremony where you work? How about paying for coffee where you work? How about paying for parking in addition too? Imagine being invited to a holiday dinner and having to pay to attend, even though you work for a multimillion dollar company. Imagine getting paid 45% less for the same work many others get compensated double for their time & impact they make. How about zero dedicated staff to help you process your business, zero help with social media marketing? Imagine being told to drive 2 hours back & forth for training that you aren’t paid for? Imagine having minimum support, one company to represent & ZERO equity in your business that YOU built? Oh by the way imagine having ZERO benefits? How about paying a fee of $1,000 per month in addition to all the other things aforementioned? Imagine switching all your clients over to a new broker-dealer & then your managing partner moves the company so you as the financial professional have to re-write & re-do all that work AGAIN? Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Well I interview many advisors every week and sadly it is true for many of my competitors. There is little to no empathy or compassion for the hardest working people in financial services. That is WHY I created Gorra Financial Group. To empower financial professionals, to own equity in their practice, to get paid for their expertise & time, to launch their own DBA(brand), & offer over 90 companies to their clients. I lived it, I’ve learned a tremendous amount in over 20 years in a business that statically 1/100 FAIL in their first 5 years. I’ve been in your shoes, I earned every stripe in my travels. I understand exactly what you are going through. If you want FREEDOM, no nonsense, equity, full benefits, minimum expenses and a healthy work/life balance to maximize what you love to do, let’s talk. Click on the link and let’s get you started. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eZQtQr97
