CANstruction 2024! DEA and Hennebery Eddy Architects participated in the 2024 Portland CANstruction competition, creating "S'quash Hunger"—a Sasquatch-inspired sculpture using 2,967 cans, all donated to the Oregon Food Bank. Our design earned three awards: Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity, and People’s Choice! The resulting Mission Statement was: “Finding Bigfoot is no small feat, but ending hunger doesn't have to be. Many Oregonians go hungry, not just those with big appetites. We’re on the hunt for innovative solutions to stomp out food insecurity and leave behind a footprint for progress. Let’s banish hunger Sasquatch-style and make hunger as mythical as Bigfoot.” A huge thanks to everyone involved in making a positive impact and tackling food insecurity! We can’t wait for next year’s CANstruction! #CANstructionpdx #CommunityImpact #FightingHunger #Architecture #Engineering

See Tracks, Think Train Week! DEA is committed to rail safety in every aspect of our Transit and Rail group's work—from planning and design to construction. We're proud of our efforts to improve grade-crossing safety across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. A special shoutout to Jeff Schultz, Senior Transit and Rail Planner, who volunteers with Washington Operation Lifesaver to educate communities on preventing rail-related injuries and fatalities. Let’s all stay safe! Remember these tips from Operation Lifesaver: ⚠️ Always expect a train. ⚠️ Never walk on tracks—it’s illegal and dangerous. ⚠️ Trains can’t stop quickly, so give them the right of way. #RailSafety #SeeTracksThinkTrain #StaySafe

Happy National Roundabouts Week! Roundabouts promote lower speeds, enhance traffic flow, reduce accidents, and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. We are proud of our roundabout experts! Our dedicated team designs innovative roundabout solutions that make our communities safer and more efficient. We recently delivered a roundabout at the Boekel/Meyer intersection in Rathdrum, Idaho. Our team thoroughly analyzed alternatives and found that the dual-lane roundabout was the best option for cost, safety, and operational efficiency to support the city’s long-term growth plans. #NationalRoundaboutsWeek
