On Saturday, members of Real You, the LGBTQ+ colleague network for Anglo American and De Beers Group, proudly marched with InterEngineering at #PrideLondon. Paul Stanley, Co-Chair of Real You, looks back on the impact made within Anglo American and De Beers Group in the 6 years since its creation. "In that time we have hosted numerous events, raising awareness, understanding and empathy towards LGBTQ+ issues and heard the lived experiences of people inside and outside of our organisation. We have heard from countless colleagues how the company’s support allowed them to be themselves, and in some cases, come out to their colleagues (myself included) - lifting a huge weight and exhausting process of concealment to protect themselves. This year has seen further events and talks hosted by our Real You colleagues in Australia, South Africa and Botswana and the growth of our chapters in South America and membership from across the globe. I, for one, don’t want anyone past, present or future to feel they need to hide a major part of what makes them, them, at work. I hope our efforts can make our workplaces safe spaces for everyone." This year's theme focused on ‘Embracing Every Shade: Celebrating Diversity Together’ and our colleagues proudly marched to show support for the community and how we promote an inclusive and diverse environment throughout our business. Our Real You Network launched in 2018 and has since promoted a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies at Anglo American and De Beers Group.

Celebrating Pride: Authenticity and Allyship in the Workplace This month, many celebrate Pride. For some, it's a joyous expression of identity, while for others, it's a reminder of the ongoing fight for equality. As a professional, I believe authenticity is key. But navigating workplace dynamics, especially when it comes to personal identity, can be complex. Visibility Matters Openly LGBTQ+ professionals create a more inclusive environment for everyone. It allows colleagues to feel comfortable bringing their full selves to work, fostering a sense of belonging and fostering stronger teams. Allyship in Action For allies, Pride is a time to amplify LGBTQ+ voices within our networks and workplaces. Sharing resources, attending Pride events (virtually or in person), and simply being an open listener can make a big difference. Pride's Roots Pride Month began as a protest for LGBTQ+ rights. It's a powerful reminder that progress often comes from activism. Today, it's a celebration of diversity, love, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Join the Conversation Let's use this month to celebrate inclusivity and continue building a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to be their authentic selves. #PrideMonth #LGTBQ+ #Inclusion #WorkplaceDiversity #visibility #vulnerability #leadership

🏳️🌈 Championing LGBTQ+ Inclusion in the Workplace 🏳️🌈 As we close out Pride Month, it’s important to remember that supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion isn’t just a once-a-year effort; it’s a continuous commitment. Creating an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued allows for greater innovation, collaboration, and overall success. Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed the incredible contributions of LGBTQ+ colleagues. Their perspectives enrich our teams, and their authenticity drives our shared success. However, to truly support LGBTQ+ inclusion, we must go beyond words and take meaningful action: 1. Education: Understanding the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community through training and open dialogue. 2. Policies: Implementing and enforcing non-discrimination policies and ensuring benefits are inclusive of all identities. 3. Visibility: Promoting LGBTQ+ representation at all levels of the organization and celebrating diversity. 4. Support Networks: Establishing employee resource groups and mentorship programs to foster a sense of belonging and provide support. Inclusivity is a continuous journey that requires commitment from everyone. By advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and creating an inclusive workplace, we empower all employees to bring their authentic selves to work, driving both personal and organizational growth. Let’s continue to build a workplace where diversity is celebrated every day of the year. Pride Month may be ending, but our commitment to inclusion and equality never stops. #LGBTQInclusion #WorkplaceDiversity #SupportEquality #Pride #InclusionMatters #BusinessForAll #PrideMonth #Cebu #PrideAlly

Last Friday, Henkel Consumer Brands Asia and China teams joined the Pride Month activities by hosting the first-ever roundtable focusing on LGBTQ+ community in the workplace. Unlike our regular Townhall meetings, this event was conducted in an intimate setting with fewer than 30 participants – meant to provide a safe and protective environment for unfiltered debate. Leading up to the event, we have encountered many unknowns and concerns from various stakeholders. I was reflecting with the following questions: why do we openly promote DEI but remain silent or hesitant on concerns of the LGBTQ+ community? what is creating fear towards this topic in Asia? Though I could not attend the roundtable in person, I learned from participants that it fostered open and heartfelt dialogues. On "Creating a safe (work)space to express diverse experiences and opinions," each group spoke freely, and employees openly shared their experiences and personal journeys. From their sharing, I have found a possible answer to my question: our hesitation on LGBTQ+ stems from a lack of understanding and a fear of seeking clarification while asking "wrong" questions. Honest dialogue is the first step towards understanding, and fortunately, we have already taken this step. I am so glad we started this dialogue in Asia! As we move forward, let's stand together in solidarity, not just during Pride Month but every day. Everyone has a role to play in Henkel in fostering an inclusive culture and promote a safe workplace. Together, we can create a future where LGBTQ+ inclusivity is not just a goal but a reality. 🌈 🤝

What is Pride Month and Why Should We Celebrate it? Did you know, in Europe, approximately 50% of LGBTQ+ employees are still not comfortable being out at work. This statistic highlights the ongoing need for safe and inclusive workplace environments. Pride Month is more than just a celebration, it's a call to action. It commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights worldwide. It's a time to honor the progress we've made and recognize the work that still needs to be done. 🏳️🌈 The Impact of Pride: - Workplace Diversity: Companies with LGBTQ+ inclusive policies see a 17% increase in employee retention and a 26% increase in job satisfaction (Source: Human Rights Campaign). - Economic Benefits: LGBTQ+ inclusive workplaces see higher productivity, leading to a potential 35% increase in team performance (Source: Harvard Business Review). - Mental Health: Inclusive environments significantly reduce stress and anxiety among LGBTQ+ employees, fostering better mental health (Source: American Psychological Association). Let's Keep Pushing Forward: Inclusion is a necessity. Let's ensure our workplaces are safe, supportive, and empowering for everyone. As we celebrate Pride Month, let's commit to ongoing advocacy, education, and the creation of inclusive spaces. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #DiversityAndInclusion #Allyship #DEI
