Collaborative Safety: Navigating the Unexpected Together At Focus on Function, teamwork and safety go hand in hand. Recently, our team (occupational therapists, dietitians and customer support) came together for a productive work health and safety session, focusing on the unexpected risks we can encounter during home visits with participants. We addressed potential challenges like hoarding, smoking, animals, sickness, mental illness, drugs, and alcohol—risks that may not always be visible during initial home safety screenings. Our team shared real-world experiences and problem-solved together, creating a space where both our seasoned staff and new graduates could learn from each other. It was incredible to see how we supported one another, combining our knowledge to develop practical solutions for keeping our team safe. By working together, we are better equipped to handle the unexpected and ensure the safety of our team and participants.
