Did you catch this video from Jill and Brian on what to expect at the next IIBEC Convention? If you haven't already heard, amongst other changes, IIBEC are rolling out the Excellence in Building Enclosure Consulting (EBEC) award at the next convention. There will be 5 of these awards presented and they will be used to highlight outstanding contributions on individual building enclosure projects. You can nominate a project for one of 5 categories (Roofing, Waterproofing, Commissioning, Exterior Wall, and Building Enclosure) and one winning project will be chosen from each. What projects would you nominate for the EBEC? https://lnkd.in/eWC2U8_z

Offsite / Modern Methods of Construction specialist - Championing MMC to revolutionise global building practices.
In my view, accelerating the building 🏠 process, enhancing quality assurance, boosting energy efficiency 📈 in structures, and ensuring greater alignment between design 📐and final product are merely a few benefits commonly linked to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). With building elements produced and assembled to varying degrees in controlled factory 🏭 settings, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are gaining traction for project delivery across the UK 🇬🇧 and Globally 🌍for affordable housing. From an architect's perspective, what are the key benefits of this approach? The Sano M-Dock system showcases several advantages that enable architects to leverage its digitally-driven platform for the provision of affordable housing. - Encourages strategic-level thinking 🤔 - Facilitates a more cohesive process from design through to construction - Promotes thoughtful consideration of the supply chain and components - Allows for regular factory visits to observe the assembly of designs - Enables architects to apply their training to ensure the end-user's experience is prioritised in home design The common myth is that MMC diminishes the architects role; rather, it challenges them to thrive within constraints, showcasing their ability to devise innovative solutions 💪. Obsessed with building The Maintain App in to a resilient business to serve the Construction Industry.
Completely agree with Craig Dearling and Master Builders Australia around quality that is so important in modern construction, maybe here long term customer satisfaction is overlooked. I feel that it's essential to emphasise the benefits of extending the focus on quality into the defects liability period and beyond through effective maintenance strategies. (obviously I know I am bias but from first hand experience its a huge factor 😏 ) Maintaining a proactive approach to post-construction maintenance not only secures the generally high aesthetic standards of the project but also solidifies a trusting relationship between the builder and the client, which more often than not diminishes at the point of handover due to simple reductions in communications and A comprehensive maintenance strategy ensures that any potential issues are addressed promptly, preventing the escalation of minor defects into major problems both physically and in the client builder relationships. This not only reduces the long-term cost associated with extensive repairs but also enhances client satisfaction. Satisfied clients are more likely to engage the same builder for future projects and recommend their services to others, directly impacting the builder's brand reputation and profitability. Furthermore, integrating a maintenance plan from the outset of the project allows for smoother transitions from construction to the operational phase, ensuring that the building continues to meet or exceed the initial quality standards set during the construction phase. By doing so, builders can offer a value-added service that differentiates them in a competitive market. This strategic approach to maintenance, focusing on longevity and quality, does not just protect the physical structure—it builds a foundation for long-term revenue streams and lasting business relationships. It underscores the builder's commitment to excellence beyond the handover, positioning them as a leader in both construction and customer care.

So great to see Master Builders Australia GM of Workforce Services Craig Dearling talking about builders taking more action to verify quality, including ITP's. As Craig states, defects are costly, not just in rectification but also to brand. Would be nice to see other organisations such as Property Council of Australia and Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) being public in this domain. Quality = consumer confidence. #nomoredefects #apartmentquality

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Finishes and Interiors Sector, to strengthen education and training on asbestos across construction and interiors! This new relationship reflects the commitment of both organisations to work closely together in advancing asbestos awareness and safety measures across the industry. Chief Executive of FIS, Iain McIlwee said : “Asbestos has slipped out of the headlines a bit in recent times, but we cannot get complacent. It is true that usage has been banned since the turn of the century, but it was so widely used historically that we will continue to encounter it in refurbishment works for many, many years to come. If disturbed and inappropriately managed, it is a killer and one of the worst we have known in construction - there is no safe level of exposure.” Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/4ctKMfV #Asbestos #Partnership #Collaboration

#BuildingSafetyMonth2024 Week 2 focuses on how building safety impacts our everyday lives and highlights the things we can do at home to stay safe. Safety is also about the materials and products that make up our homes. The ICC-ES IRC Equivalency Evaluation Report (EER) highlights the end-use applications of a building product for residential projects such as a deck, patio cover or retaining wall. With a focus on schematic plans, details and tables, the EER benefits building product manufacturers, code officials and homeowners alike. Building product manufacturers can show proof of compliance to relevant sections of the IRC, providing homeowners with peace of mind when making common residential improvements. The EER is backed by an ICC-ES Evaluation Report (ESR) which aids code officials in streamlining the approval of products for installation.
