I talked with a candidate yesterday that is interested in completely changing industries and sectors and get into technology. That's a big challenge for many people, but there are ways. One piece of advice I gave for this scenario is to explore the technology vendors that support their company and industry. Some of these companies find great value in having people with SME within a particular domain or industry. Having people with a specialized knowledge can also improve their credibility. And they can be a great asset with helping the sales and marketing teams.
