𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 #WoodProtectionSavesTheForests The 21st of March is traditionally the "Day of the Forest". Vacuum-pressure-treated local wood such as pine and spruce are the best ecological and economical alternative to tropical wood and, thanks to their long durability, also reduce logging in local forests and protects tropical forests. #Sika #SikaSpirit #WOLMAN #Woodprotection #holzschutzrettetklima #holzrettetklima

Reviving rivers with suction dredging to improve ecosystem health and navigation. ⬇ -- Rivers often suffer from silt buildup, a consequence of erosion of soil due to deforestation, and the nutrient-rich runoff from urban and agricultural sources. This runoff feeds excessive growth of aquatic plants, that decay and turn into organic silt, settling on the riverbed and clouding the water. This process disrupts the river's natural state. Midwest Amphibious Equipment (USA) uses Watermaster eco-dredger to effectively remove this silt, countering erosion and restoring river clarity and health, which benefits both aquatic life and human activities like boating and other recreation. Growing native grasses for repatriation in County Down with native seed collected (with all required permissions) from sites in County Down! Once established in the sand dunes these grasses (Marram, Couch and Lyme) will serve as sustainable protection from coastal erosion. We believe this is the safest way to restore native habitats, without importations and with plants grown from native seed collected using ENSCONET protocols. https://lnkd.in/eYesYDgG #TrueHarvestSeeds #NativeRestoration #PlantProtection

And today is 𝒲𝓸𝓇𝓁𝒹 𝒲𝒶𝓉𝓮𝓇 𝒟𝒶𝓎! For our weekly friday topic - 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 #9: Of the original area of global forest cover of the world, 15% remains intact, 38% is fragmented, 20% is degraded and 28% is deforested. About 𝓉𝓌𝓸 𝒷𝒾𝓁𝓁𝒾𝓸𝓃 hectares of degraded forest land 𝒸𝒶𝓃 𝒷𝓮 𝓇𝓮𝓈𝓉𝓸𝓇𝓮𝒹 to wooded landscapes, and thereby contribute to balanced water flows, clean water and reduced erosion and runoff. #worldwaterday

Meet Australia’s ecosystem engineers 🦘 Bettongs, potoroos, and bandicoots may be small, but they play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining our landscapes. Their digging helps aerate soil, spread nutrients, and support healthy ecosystems. Unfortunately, their numbers are falling fast, and without them, our soils will lose their spark. By supporting conservation efforts, we can bring the bounce back and help restore these vital species to their habitats. Join us in supporting these tiny ecosystem engineers as they help restore the landscapes we all depend on! 🌏 Support the bounce here: https://lnkd.in/g9QEnrz2

What are the three main components of afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation projects? Afforestation: planting trees on land that has not been previously forested; Reforestation: replanting trees in areas that have been deforested; Revegetation: restoring vegetation cover in areas where it has been lost.

It's fascinating to learn about mangroves and how they function. One interesting adaptation that mangrove plants, Grey Mangroves (Avicenna Marina), have the ability to excrete salt through their leaves. This mechanism enables them to thrive in high salinity environments found in coastal areas. The salt glands on their leaves help regulate salt levels, making it possible for them to grow and survive. #mangroves #nationalgeographicsoceity #environment #conservation For more updates Instagram : @vidhyaac

Getting down and dirty in Grey Mangrove (Avicennia marina) removing litter and sediment to improve drainage. Did you know more than half of the world's mangroves species are found in Australia? Why are mangroves so great? 🌱 Mangroves are highly effective at sequestering carbon, capturing an average of 308kgs of carbon over the lifetime of a single tree 🌱 They create a buffer from wind and waves to protect the foreshore from erosion. 🌱 Mangrove forests provide habitat, nursery grounds and food sources for many organisms including microorganisms, fish, molluscs, reptiles, amphibians, birds and humans.

Evertis has partnered with Instituto Terra, a Brazilian non-profit organization founded in 1998 that has been at the forefront of environmental conservation. Through this collaboration we intent to make a substantial impact on the restoration and conservation of this vital ecosystem. We are not only contributing to the fight against climate change, but also encouraging in the preservation of critical habitats for countless species of plants and animals. To know more about this alliance, check out their latest post: https://lnkd.in/dmQM4cWq #Environment #Environmentalpreservation #biodiversity #reforestation #climatechange
🌳 In the restored lands of Instituto Terra, a true journey of life unfolds daily, from soil preparation to planting. This is how it happened in the RPPN, and today it’s expanding into new restoration areas. Together with Renewis, from IMG Group, we are planting 30,000 new native seedlings of the Atlantic Forest. Another partnership to #ReforestToTransform. #InstitutoTerra #EnvironmentalRestoration #SoilRecovery #AtlanticForest #PlantingChallenges #GuardiansOfNature #ReforestToTransform #PoeticNatur
