Holding steady is crucial, but when is it no longer productive? Today, many Black women leaders in higher ed are facing unprecedented challenges. As Dr. Annice E. Fisher notes in her article, 'Hold Steady or Issue an Exit Ticket?' (https://lnkd.in/gPbdqJH8), many Black women are confronted with the tough decision to 'hold steady' or issue an 'exit ticket' to protect themselves. Yet, amidst these challenges, their power and choice remain unyielding. Institutions and teams should consider: 1️⃣ Acknowledging that holding steady is important in leadership 2️⃣ Knowing when holding steady is no longer productive 3️⃣ Actively supporting Black women leaders 4️⃣ Normalizing exits To our Black community members navigating these complexities, join us for our February Affinity Leadership Healing Circle. It's a safe space to honor your Black identity while connecting with others. Join us on Tuesday, Feb 27th at 12pm CT! ❤️

Founder & Managing Director | Private Secretary Group | Empowering Clinicians with Seamless Administrative & Telephony Solutions | Helping Clinicians Focus on Patient Care
Throughout my journey with Private Secretary Group, I’ve been inspired by many successful black leaders who have paved the way and shown what’s possible. Figures like Sharon White, whose leadership at John Lewis has set a new standard in the retail industry, and Steven Bartlett, whose insights on business and leadership through his podcast ‘The Diary of a CEO’ have inspired countless individuals, remind me of the importance of resilience and innovation. ✨ Their stories, along with those of Jamelia Donaldson of TreasureTress, who created a space in the beauty industry that caters specifically to the needs of the black community, and Levi Roots, whose Reggae Reggae Sauce has become a household name, are a testament to the impact black professionals can have across various industries. As a black business owner, I’m committed to building a legacy that not only supports our healthcare professionals but also contributes to the growing narrative of black excellence in business. 🌟 This Black History Month, I’m proud to reflect on the rich legacy of black leadership and to celebrate the achievements of those who continue to break barriers and pave the way for future generations. It’s a reminder that our stories matter, our contributions are invaluable, and our potential is limitless. 🔗 To all aspiring leaders out there: stay inspired, stay resilient, and let’s continue to support each other’s growth and success. Together, we’re building a future that honours our past and empowers the next generation. 🙌🏽 Who are the black leaders that have inspired you, and how do you recognise the importance of black leadership in your field? Let’s continue the conversation on how we can contribute to breaking barriers and creating more opportunities. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackLeadership #Inspiration #Legacy #BreakingBarriers #BlackExcellence #ProfessionalGrowth #HealthcareSupport #Resilience

February marks the start of Black History month, prompting a pressing question: ❓ Why are there so few Black CEOs in the Fortune 500 despite the market's clear support for diverse leadership? ❌ When we started looking into this, we came to the realization that corporate America for all its efforts in DEI, lacks advancement pathways and programs for minorities. ✔ The gap suggests a disconnect between corporate policies and market realities, and it’s time for a reflective and forward-looking dialogue. #BlackHistoryMonth #LeadershipDiversity #CorporateInclusion #DEI #investorrelations #thursdaypudding

As we celebrate Black History Month, I began to reflect on what was a common leadership factor among our renowned black leaders that we recognize for their contributions to history in this country. What I deducted is that each of these leaders exhibited extraordinary courage and leadership in their own way trailblazing against social injustice and promoting the well-being of black people in the US. For example, Rosa Parks displayed courage and leadership as she refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955 inspiring thousands of blacks to boycott the buses there for over a year. Rosa Parks stated, “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” In today’s work world, courage and leadership has a more complex meaning and impact in that we are becoming a complex, diverse, and competitive workforce. It takes courage and leadership to listen to diverse perspectives, and then be willing to change direction and minds, to speak-up amongst adversity when we see injustices, and to create a safe environment where we can fail, adapt, be resilient and open to change and innovation. We admire the courage and leadership of our black leaders of yesterday and today. We can surely learn from their stories. Let’s all take time to review our history and the courage and leadership that prevailed. #Courageandleadership #Blackleadersmatter #Blackhistorymatters

At times, it feels like there’s an invisible spotlight—constantly waiting, scrutinizing, and anticipating mistakes. Whether it’s from peers, staff, or even the broader community, there’s often a sense that my every move is being watched more closely, judged more harshly, and at times, unfairly. There’s pressure to succeed, not just for myself, but to defy the unspoken expectations that come with being one of the few Black leaders in this space. The gaze is constant, and the margin for error feels smaller. Despite that, I continue to press forward. I lead with integrity and remain committed to the work of uplifting communities, advocating for justice, and fostering real change. Because at the end of the day, my purpose is greater than the pressure. To my fellow leaders of color, I see you. We carry burdens that many will never understand, but we are here for a reason. Keep pushing, keep growing, and know that your impact reaches further than you may ever realize. #BlackLeadership #NonprofitLife #Resilience #EquityInLeadership #StayTheCourse
