Malicious competition disrupts the rhythm of fair play and mutual growth. In our sector, these tactics end up hurting the real backbone – our employees and customers. At Talentek - Hubtek we believe 100% that diversification is not only healthy, but necessary. However, the past year has shown us some not-so-pretty sides of the game, so here are some tips you can use if you're thinking about diversifying vendors. - If the pitch involves throwing shade at the competition... RUN! - Check the living costs in the country you're hiring from. If the price seems too good to be true, chances are it is. And who foots the bill? The hardworking employees. Demand a transparent cost model – understand where your money is going. - References Matter: Just like checking reviews before trying a new restaurant, investigate your potential supplier's reputation. If they claim to have numerous happy clients but only provide one or two references, it's time to dig deeper. Nothing wrong with being the new kid on the block, just don't lie about it. - Look beyond the flashy extras. Is the company tech-savvy? Do they offer effective training programs? Do the leaders have a solid reputation in the industry? Compare the entire package – because you deserve nothing but the best. In the business jungle, be the wise owl – align with those who value fairness, transparency, and genuine growth.

This week was a lot. Among all the news of layoffs in our company and beyond, we organized a summit in Munich to talk about our strategy, and how we will achieve impact. It was rough. The macro climate probably couldn't have been worse. 😣 But our team was so inspiring. 🤗 At our final summit dinner Thursday night, a participate asked me: 'What was the one thing for you this week?' I didn't hesitate. Trust! 100% 🤩 It came out instinctively. Nothing will work unless we trust each other. Trust that we are heard. Trust that we matter, our opinions matter. Trust that the other person is also interested in making progress. Trust that we can say 'stop' if we feel we need to take a break and reflect. 🙌 As we begin to build on the amazing successes from 2023, in driving our mission to educate technical audiences, effectively and at scale, I am so humbled by how passionate people are about our mission. And I don't mean in the 'feel good fluffy kind of way'. I mean the 'complex cutting edge concrete' kind of way. 💪 With metrics driven approaches, with experimentation & deep analysis, with launching in the vast and complex space of a large and messy corporation. We are here to do the hard things. 🤓 And that is who we are, those are the values I want to represent as a leader, this is what I feel has longevity. ❤️ This means we need a thick skin. For the moments of despair, the moments of pain, the moments of failure. To get back up. To look at the pieces of our work and sift through them to find the nuggets of wisdom. The pieces which show how things can be done differently. This is where the magic is. 🧚♂️ To generate a new perspective and push forward. It's tough, and it'll take a while, but we'll get there. When searching for ways to overcome obstacles, rather than changing what we do, we can often overcome things by simply remembering why we do it. We have implemented some great new processes at NineTech in July which have seen great results, but fundamentally remembering why we all do the job in the first place will keep us making progress. Here's a short Q&A with Heather about her role. What’s your role at Rival and what’s your favourite part about it?    I am the Office Experience Manager in Vancouver at Rival. What I love most about this position is the ever-changing nature of each day. The office environment is dynamic, with different faces every day and tasks constantly changing. The day-to-day responsibilities are always shifting, and no day is ever the same here. This really keeps things interesting and engaging.   Talk us through a great achievement you’ve had since working with us.    The end of 2023 was a busy one at Rival/Reach3. We relocated our Vancouver office while hosting 2 company Holiday gatherings, with over 45 attendees flying in. Successfully managing these events simultaneously stands out as one of my top accomplishments at Rival. Everything fell into place seamlessly for the construction and relocation, while both parties turned out to be successes. Bringing everyone together and achieving these milestones was amazing.   What surprised you most about working at Rival Technologies?   Having never ventured into the tech industry before, it's very interesting to witness how it works. The fast-pace and ever-changing scope of the company have been exciting to be a part of. LinkedIn content. Yes, you read that right. Not job boards. Not recruiters. Just content. Almost every single team member we have at ColdIQ came inbound from our content rather than through a normal job post on LinkedIn. I still remember the first time Dan Rosenthal reached out, telling us that he wanted to work for us for free for three months so he could later start his own agency. (He ended up being so good that we decided to give him a share of the business, but that’s a story for another time.) You can build a lifestyle business with a few VAs oversea but if you want to build a massive business, you need top talent. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of connecting two amazing individuals from my network for a discussion around integrating sales into marketing and the impact this can have on a business.
