I have been at a military base the past week working with Soldiers and Marines. I am here with several other teams of vendors that work in the C-UAS field. The one thing I consistently see as far as the C-UAS fight, is the importance of units learning how to develop and integrate the C-UAS fundamentals i.e., early warning, layered defense design, rapid airspace deconfliction, multi level command and control, delegation of target engagement authority and incident and engagement reporting. Commanders need to methodically develope and rehearse their detection, kinetic, non-kinetic and operational PACE plans. Each unit is unique and has to incorporate what available assets they have. I've seen units get pretty creative over the years. We definitely need to get more systems down to the unit level. We are all learning. Many people can talk about systems and technology, but we need to get out to the field and develop tactics. Tactics come from quality training events based upon real world events. And you can not cookie cutter C-UAS operations. Focusing on the fundamentals, as I mentioned before, will get units closer to where they need to be. The technology and tactic curve is so rapid. It is a very tough challenge to try to stay on the leading edge. Working with the people who have actually been on the frontline of the C-UAS fight is beneficial, unfortunately there are not many of them at this point.

Today, we talk about SMWDC’s second line of effort: Advanced Tactical Training. SMWDC provides premiere advanced tactical training for the Surface Fleet ensuring units are competent, proficient, and ready to deploy forward. During this training, known as Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT), SMWDC validates units’ warfighting capability and tactical proficiency for the high-end fight. SWATT develops individuals, watch teams, units, and warfare commanders over a series of in-port, live virtual construct, and underway training evolutions. Additionally, SWATT’s multi-warfare events build watchstander confidence and competence by applying the leader, warrior, mariner, and manager mentality with combat systems and warfighting doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures to produce more ready ships. Experienced Warfare Tactics Instructors (WTI) facilitate SWATT. WTIs capture data on each unit’s performance during SWATT so SMWDC’s performance analysis team can leverage data analysis to improve the tactical training and validate unit and strike group warfighting capability. Top-talented junior Surface Warfare Officers interested in joining the SMWDC team by becoming a WTI can send an email to SWO_WTI@navy.mil for more information. #tacticalexcellencebydesign #SMWDC #SWATT #WTI

British Army soldiers are a step closer to getting their hands on one of Europe’s most lethal tanks, as the latest Challenger 3 prototype has finished production in Telford. With advanced armour and devastating firepower, the Challenger 3 boasts an impressive range of state-of-the-art technology, making it the most lethal and survivable tank ever operated by the British Army. The latest of eight Challenger 3 prototypes rolled off the Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) factory production line in Telford today. Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, visited the site where he met the engineers and apprentices who have worked to achieve this crucial milestone in UK armoured warfare. The first prototype is already showing its capabilities on trials. All prototypes will be tested under operational conditions to validate their performance and make refinements, before another 140 are built and delivered to the British Army. Challenger 3 will be the apex predator of modern warfare. With unmatched cutting-edge firepower, protection, and mobility, it will be ready to dominate the battlefield. The tank can reach speeds of up to 60kph and is armed with a 120mm smoothbore gun with higher muzzle velocity and greater penetration than its predecessor, Challenger 2. Its new modular armour and Active Protection System, which can detect and destroy rocket and missile attacks in seconds, will make it one of the best protected tanks in Europe. Challenger 3 is being delivered under an £800 million contract, creating many highly skilled roles, with nearly 300 jobs generated within RBSL, including 130 engineers and 70 technicians, and another 450 jobs across the UK. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak #tank #mainbattletank #britisharmy https://lnkd.in/gzbPyVTJ

How does the Navy's tactical training prepare you for self-care? As shipboard Combat Systems (all weapons) training team lead onboard a guided-missile Destroyer (DDG), I trained the ship to FIGHT. The Navy trains its operators to use a series of Pre-Planned Responses (PPRs), which are "if-then" statements for warfare when certain parameters are met. You have to know when to defend the ship when lines are crossed, and how to employ all of your assets available. I had a lightbulb moment with how this could apply to a self-care practice. IF parameters of stress/distress are met, THEN you do an action. Some examples may include... ...IF I have a big event/meeting, THEN I will purposely take time to do X (self-care). ... IF my job/family/life stress feels unmanageable, THEN I will consider re-aligning my priorities with my values. ... IF I am not holding my boundaries around my time/space/value, THEN I will reassess what my boundaries are. What are your self-care PPRs? When do you purposefully step back and reassess your total care? *Comment Below!* Photo: Tactical warfighters doing tactical photos.
