Thanks to our extensive experience working with the Royal Australian Navy, we know how they use their ships, what kinds of operations they undertake, and what conditions they are used in better than anyone else. For the last twenty years we have worked to understand exactly what our Navy needs. We know how important the Royal Australian Navy’s ships are to making sure our Defence Force can do what they need to do, go where they need to go, and keep us, and our allies safe. We’re Navy known. We’re home grown. We’re delivering sovereign design, engineering, and digital solutions that our Navy can rely on. #navyknown #homegrown #defenceindustry #navalshipbuilding #maritimeindustry #sovereigncapability #Australia

The UK needs a larger navy. The Royal Navy is one of the most powerful in the world but its shrinkage since the end of the cold war is stark. The USN has a similar problem. It starts with manpower and infrastructure. Navies are hard to build up quickly. The need is for more support ships, submarines and escorts. Plus potential replacements for the amphibious fleet. An order today for a second batch of type 31 frigates would start to join the fleet in the mid 2030's. New SSN's are due late 2030's but any increase in numbers wouldn't happen until the late 2040's. Support ships are due to commission starting in 2031. It would be great to make a commitment to increase the size to meet requirements, but it wouldn't actually happen for a decade. https://lnkd.in/eAMtNV7c

But unfortunately not the First (or last) RN major SV to suffer significant delays to being declared ‘fit for purpose/fit to fight’ due to political interference in the acquisition process: over two decades after the programme began, the Type 45 destroyer is now fit to project and protect the UK’s interests. The problem the ship has faced was rooted in a politically influenced decision: select the TRL (?) untried, untested, non-operational, RR WR-21 over the TRL9, sea worthy, widely deployed, GE LM250 = £100s millions of additional tax payers’ money to fix! No wonder Defence Acquisition is so much in a financial Black Hole when this happens more often than not! No HR department (none in the Cabinet - go figure) would allow such mismanagement to go unchecked without some form of Performance Management process - a new concept for Secretary’s of State - instead such incompetence is allowed c5 years to go unchecked, apart from the all too frequent Cabinet reshuffle!

HMS Diamond has made history in the Red Sea 🇬🇧 Most targets shot down in a day ever by a Royal Navy ship. 🇬🇧 First to shoot down a missile since 1991. 🇬🇧 First to fire in anger for over 30 years. Proving the Royal Navy's strength & formidability against threats to the UK.

Eighty years ago, the mission of the military forces on D-Day was to preserve the republic and to set free a suffering humanity. Today that mission remains. America is counting on Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) to safely deliver modernized attack submarines on time, with Portsmouth-quality, to deter aggression, defend national security interests and preserve our way of life. Every day the men and women of PNSY personify the importance of this mission and the significant role they play in the defense of this nation. PNSY has a responsibility to the Navy and the country to achieve the highest standards possible. Submarines operate in uncertain, complex, and rapidly changing environments. It takes a skilled and empowered workforce, with the right attitude and determination, to execute submarine maintenance to the exacting standards that ensures Sailors can safely accomplish their mission below the sea. #DDAY80

A new definition of sea transport was born with the advent of hovercrafts. Their capacity to navigate shallows that were previously inaccessible to conventional boats presents an opportunity for the Philippines to rethink its strategy. Free from the constraints of guarded deep-water entrances, earlier inaccessible shallows can be treated as navigable territory. It's a bold approach that adds flexibility and leverage over the visible power asymmetry between the Philippine Navy and the PLA Navy. https://lnkd.in/gWQawmhR

Although I have not yet formed my own opinion about this idea, I LOVE discussing possible solutions to the long term management of all natural and man-made disasters. Whatever the cause, the impact to the lives of those touched by disaster is undeniable. Everyone should be working together to find the safest, fastest, and most effective response solutions, no matter the disaster. Communication, discussion, planning and preparation must be happening before the crisis hits.
Ya’ know, I’ve sometimes wondered… with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force… we should have a new military branch called the Fire Force. A huge fleet of federally owned planes of all sizes that fight wildfires or large fires in urban areas. The USA should have a large fleet of planes ready to attack these fires anywhere in the country. Like the Air Force for wildfires. Also a large contingency of men and women to assist as spotters for the air assets and people who can assist existing firefighters on the ground. The USA Fire Force. The wildfires are consuming and destroying so much every year. Time for a bold solution. JMO.
