#HIMSS vs. #HLTH 🤺 I am just back from two conferences in Europe: HIMSS in Rome followed in two weeks by HLTH in Amsterdam. ✅️ Both conferences are trying to expand outside the US. ✅️ Both are focused on digital health. ✅️ Both were not really big. ✅️ Both attracted the best speakers and panelists - a truly splended mix of international #healthcare leaders. However, in my personal impression, HIMSS was completely knocked out by HLTH this time. 👊🏆 Of course, everyone at HLTH was amazed by an unforgettable atmosphere of never-ending celebration 🍻: terrific production, colors, music 🎶, food, hairdresser ✂️🪮 and makeup corner💄, on-site and off-site activities, tons of give aways and unforgettable funny #unicorn 🦄 ready to take a picture 📷 with each and every participant. (💡Eventually it looks like we finally have the first-time ever COOL 🎉 event in such a conservative industry like healthcare🩺). But ☝️ A true X-factor of HLTH was its amazing networking platform. 🤝 That was an absolute game-changer in what you take from the conference experience at the end 🃏. Not only the networking app was smartly built and, sorry for cliche, user friendly. (Very simple, but unfortunately not obvious to many conferences' organizers 🤷♀️ - If you position yourself as a leading event in technological field you must use up-to-date technological platforms). The HLTH concept itself was so much #networking oriented 🎯 that literally "required" from every participant to commit to be an active networker. As if it was saying: "Want to enjoy being a part of our #community? Be open to communicate and meet people". Bravo to organizers! 🫡🫶👏 With no doubt, those conferences that do not understand importance of networking and do not close this gap in their programs will find themselves not relevant very soon. 💯 People vote by feet. ⛷️ For me the choice is obvious. Best event of 2023? Well, hard to say… 🤔 Overall, I attended 1-2 events per month, which was pretty exciting, considering the places I have been to and the different character of the conferences. And yes, it was kind of exhausting from time to time. Still, I wanted to check out new events firsthand to make a decision on whether it's the place to be for BAYOOMED. So, in 2024, some events won't be on our list, while others will be covered by my BAYOOMED and #YOOme colleagues. Based on last year's experience, I already have the following events in my calendar for 2024: • ViVE, Los Angeles (25 - 28 February 2024) • HLTH Europe, Amsterdam (17 - 20 June 2024) • Bits & Pretzels HealthTech, Munich (5 - 6 June 2024) Why I these 3? Because I really like the vibe and the networking opportunities at those. I might attend DMEA - Connecting Digital Health in Berlin and HLTH in Las Vegas as well, but have not made a final decision. For gathering and exchanging information and widening my horizon, I prefer smaller and local conferences, and of course, our two medical device networks, BVMed - Bundesverband Medizintechnologie and SPECTARIS. Even though it might not look like that right now, I guess 2024 will be again a year with a lot of traveling - also given the fact that again new conferences and formats appear that I need to check out myself. 😊 What was the best event for you in 2023? Another Swaay.Health Marketing Community conference is in the books! One of my favorites; I always leave smarter and savvier than when I arrived. How many conferences have media training sessions? I'm also grateful to have taken the stage to debate the value of conferences with Amanda Lomas, Lorraine McMeekin, our make-believe CFO antagonist Cynthia Church, with Colin Hung as the moderator. It was a delight to share the stage with such knowledgeable and passionate individuals, each bringing receipts to back up their points. As we discussed, it's not always about ROI, but rather ROO—return on objective—and conferences offer a myriad of opportunities to pursue multiple objectives in one place. Conferences play a vital role in connecting healthcare professionals, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation. It is through events like these that we can collectively shape the future of our industry—for healthcare, technology, and the marketing of healthcare technology! And just like that, another fantastic #Rewired event has drawn to a close. Following a record-breaking attendance of 3,500, this year’s event took place at the NEC in Birmingham across the 12th & 13th of March.   The Epro team were thrilled to be a part of the event, which saw thousands of NHS IT leaders, professionals, suppliers, start-ups, and esteemed members of the digital health community participate in the valuable learning and network opportunity. This year, however, was extra special, as Epro had the privilege of not only attending and exhibiting at the event – meaning we could spend ample time networking and speaking to peers in the industry, but we were also delighted  to be joined by Dr Johan Waktare, who took the Best Practice Stage to share insights into the substantial work Epro has undertaken with Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Seeing the interest in this session was fantastic, and we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Johan for speaking so highly of Epro’s services and our partnership to improve operational productivity and efficiency of clinical communication at the trust.    Industry events like these unveil several pivotal insights worth noting. Among them was the topic of the use of AI in managing data and information within the trust. We even witnessed an AI Bake-Off, which saw clinicians up against Chat GPT. However, while it’s widely acknowledged that AI will inevitably shape the future of healthcare, in its current state, there remain a vast number of questions to be answered - not least around governance, bias and privacy. It is therefore not surprising that safe and ethical digital transformation remains as a continued priority. Additionally, the persisting challenge of a digital skills shortage remains in focus. This highlights the need for effective education, training and implementation of available digital tools.     It’s clear that to truly advance, partnership and collaboration between suppliers and the NHS is fundamental to success. Speakers throughout the event emphasised the significance of seamless data exchange and interpretation between providers, with these perspectives illustrated by compelling patient narratives and case studies. Unlocking not only the technology but also the accompanying processes and workflows that are desperately needed within the NHS, remains of fundamental importance.   A final takeaway for us at Epro was the immense value of in-person events. Great events need great people with a shared purpose, and Rewired24 certainly had this in abundance.   Overall, our experience at Rewired was not only thought-provoking, it was also inspiring; and our team left feeling energised and more motivated than ever to help achieve the success the NHS deserves.
