By lifting the heads of young people “away from their screens and into the eyes of peers, mentors, coaches, role models, and others”, summer camps provide a unique place for young people to develop with patience and care. NATIONAL SET A GOOD EXAMPLE DAY When we observe kindness in others, we are often inspired to offer kindness ourselves. Someone set a good example for us to follow, and we must continue those good examples for others in our lives. National Set A Good Example Day on February 26th encourages us to set a good example that inspires others. #SetAGoodExampleDay Everyone influences others. The influence could be positive or negative. Even from a young age, we experience good and bad behavior. Parents can positively influence their children at an early age. Additionally, many others, such as our extended families, educators, mentors, community leaders, and even organizations, can positively influence us in many ways. After a decade of working in nonprofits and graduating from our program, a.t. founded Transform Together, @transformtogetherllc which provides consulting services in policy, systems transformation, professional development training, and resources to build and sustain equitable practices for LGBTQI+ students, educators, and employees. Partnerships include San Diego County Office of Education, Sweetwater Union High School District, Golden State Warriors, Discord, and national non profit Athlete Ally. Their practice is grounded in collaborating with students by centering their voices, needs, experiences, and ideas. 𝑰𝒏 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂, 60% 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒖𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒃𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔. This gap in positive male role models drives my commitment to coaching. To address this, I'm hosting a camp focused on shaping young men to embody accountability, discipline, leadership, and teamwork. This year’s experience with my first team boys, some of whom have troubled backgrounds, has been a journey of mutual growth. Every journey from Stellenbosch to Strand, each hour spent on the hockey field and preparing presentations, is more than training. My aim is not just to develop their skills on the field, but to equip them with essential life values. To further this goal, the camp from January 11-15th aims to deepen their personal and team development. Hosting 20 boys, this camp is envisioned as more than a training camp. The goal is to challenge them and expand their potential. With the help of seasoned leaders I've met, we're working to guide these young men into future responsible fathers, loving husbands, and community leaders. Your involvement can greatly enrich this initiative. I'm committed to providing a transformative experience without imposing financial stress on the families. Almost Home’s founders believed that mentors in our community will show up for motivated teen moms on their journey out of poverty. Research shows that mentors play a powerful role in providing young people with the tools to make positive choices, attend and engage in school, and reduce or avoid negative behaviors. In turn, these young people are: ● 55% more likely to be enrolled in college. ● 81% more likely to report participating regularly in sports or extracurricular activities. ● 78% more likely to volunteer regularly in their communities. ● More than twice as likely to say they held a leadership position in a club or sports team. Participating in a webinar related to "EmpowerHer: Bridging the Rural Education Gaps" provides crucial insights into the challenges and solutions for improving education for girls in rural areas. I learn about the specific barriers girls face in rural areas such as limited access to resources, cultural norms, and economic constraints. The webinar highlights successful strategies, including innovative educational programs, the use of technology, and community-based approaches that have effectively addressed these gaps. This workshop also highlight the importance of policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and the role of mentorship and leadership training in empowering girls through education.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟵𝟵𝟴,𝟳𝟯𝟲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲: CHILDHOOD FRIENDSHIPS! This is my daughter and her friends reunited after (GASP!) five days apart.  These relationships are EVERYTHING. They are messy and they are beautiful and they are absolutely a formative part of development. Relationships can alter the course of a young person's development and make or break a youth development program. When designing a research protocol or program evaluation it's essential to consider the role of relationships not only among young people but also among young people and their adult mentors, teachers, and group leaders. #youthdevelopment #research #programevaluation #teens #friends
