🌈Just because things are good doesn’t mean they can’t be great. Often I hear from parents that everything's alright with their teen… We are just fine… 🌟We message back and forth a few times and they join my group… Then they ghost when I start to ask them follow-up questions. They sometimes will answer the questions and then when I ask them if they're interested in having a quick chat… They ghost again. The chat is purely to see where you and your teen sit and to see if we are a good fit…🌟 If you are a part of our community you are definitely intrigued by coaching in regards to you, your teen or your family.🌺 🌺The benefits that coaching can bring to teens are endless. We are rewiring brains and building incredible human beings. It is so important to their development. I won’t be your teens only coach… Parents, many of your teens are on a sports team. Do you expect them to run around at practice with their teammates without a coach? 🌺 No Parents, many of your teens plan an instrument. Do you expect them to attend lessons in which they teach themself? 🌿 No 🌿You meet the coach or instructor and you speak with them about what the team or lessons have to offer and you see if this would be a good fit for your teen. 👉Will they get along with the coach or instructor? 👉Will the coach or instructor accelerate their progress? 👉Will they learn from this coach or instructor? So if you are intrigued about what coaching could look like for your teen… Let’s find a few minutes to chat and see what I could provide for your teen.🌿 If not now…when? #teenconfidence#ParentingJourney#empoweredteens#believeinthemagic

Big announcement! I'm opening up one-on-one online coaching for teens AND adults! When I announced a few weeks ago about the teen coaching for young actors trying to figure out "life after high school," I had a number of people email me, asking about coaching for adult actors. I love teaching and sharing tips about the business that can strengthen your performance, and I really love working with actors to help craft a performance. So I'm offering an intro program starting today. Check out the video below and head to my website to sign-up. This coaching can be whatever you need it to be: need a reader, need help breaking down a scene for an audition, need help developing a character, or just simply looking for scene study work on a weekly basis. For teens, if you have questions about finding the right monologues for scholarships and conservatory auditions, or creating a plan for life after high school, or questions about moving to a major market and need to know "how do I pay my bills while pursuing a career?" or if your parents have a thousand questions and nowhere to turn, that's me! Click here to sign-up: https://lnkd.in/efEkgRVi Disclaimer: I CAN NOT coach you on a project if I'm an employee of the production. That would be wildly unethical. And keep in mind, with the new SAG-AFTRA contract, production must allow time for a Zoom or in-person audition, so schedule your time with your agents!

In my kid's coaching program, using the Adventure in Wisdom (tm) program, kids will learn how to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence. Self-Esteem = "I like me!" Self-Confidence = "I believe in me!" Have you considered that the two definitions above are largely dependent on Self-Talk? Hi! I'm Lisa Phillips and I'm a certified children's life coach through the Adventures in Wisdom(tm) program. I specialize in helping kids 6-13 develop mindset skills in 27 different areas. One such area is helping your child develop stronger self-esteem and self-confidence. What kind of 'self-talk' is your child using? If it isn't positive, it can hinder your child's development in the following 3 ways: 1. Self-Confidence - When kids use positive self-talk, it reinforces their own belief in their abilities and strengths. When you, the parent, use positive affirmations, your son or daughter (or both) will be more likely approach challenges with confidence, knowing they have what it takes to meet and overcome difficulties. 2. Children who engage in positive self-talk are more likely to view mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve, rather than see their mistakes as failures. 3. By encouraging your child to use positive self-talk, you are teaching them to express feelings and learn to cope with stress, frustration, disappointment in a healthy manner. You can hear more about the value of Self-Talk by joining my private Facebook Group, "Coaching Children Towards Significance and Success," by clicking on this link. https://lnkd.in/gCXzxjAT #kidscoaching #selfesteemforkids #confidencekids #adventuresinwisdom #positivemindsetkids #startyouthtalking #buildyourinnerwarrior #unlockyourpotential

Did You Notice the Project We Started? We noticed that there are high numbers of teenagers around the world who are not getting what they need from school. No matter how hard schools try, they don't have the time to give the appropriate coaching young people need to transition from being creative learners dependent on teachers to the independent learners they need to be not only for school, university and work but for life. We're addressing this issue in the first of many projects to be run through the Academy of Learner Development. The first step was to open the project (see link below) to a small cohort of teenagers who are coached by our most experienced learner-development coaches. The second stage is to open the Academy by launching courses for parents and teachers who would like to use our approaches with teens (from ten years up) at home or in class. Another course will be opened for people who would like to coach with us. The fee for the few teens we coach is on the high side but the courses for parents, teachers and potential coaches will be low. The reason for that low course fee is that the project's vision is that every teenager should have access to and support from a learner-development coach. In the hectic, unpredictable, highly emotional “game” of adolescence, we feel confident, as parents, when our children are surrounded by a “coach” -- regardless of whether that individual is serving as an athletic coach, an advisor, a dorm parent, a teacher, or a director -- who we know will aptly call a timeout when they feel a shift in momentum in our children’s lives. Don't be butthurt when your teen listens to a coach even though you said the same thing 😂 Here's why our life skills coaching benefits teens and young adults: 💪Independence and Autonomy: Listening to a coach allows teens to assert their independence. They may feel that following a coach's guidance is a way to make their own choices, separate from their parents' influence. 📱Communication Style: Coaches often use different communication techniques that resonate better with teens. They might employ motivational strategies, set clear goals, and offer constructive feedback in ways that feel empowering rather than parental. 🧳Less Emotional Baggage: The parent-child relationship can come with a lot of emotional history and baggage. Teens might feel that their parents' advice is colored by past experiences and emotions, whereas a coach's guidance feels fresh and unencumbered. For a few years I facilitated an all day adventure confidence training for 12 teens from a children's home. These are the ones I have individually coached one at a time before and after the adventure training. Probably my favorite adventure training I have designed then. I have also designed the adventure father-child bonding we offer at Centre for Fathering. This area of work for teens at Children’s homes I considered to be “fathering the fatherless.” These teens do not have a proper family environment to go back to. Their stories will melt your heart. But you will be amazed at how altruistic and compassionate they are towards others who are deprived like them. They have a desire to do good for others that very few children in today's well to do families have. Just watching them care for one another in this training will warm your heart. They have blessed me richly ! I am looking forward to facilitating a similar training in January for a group of Henderson youth. The difference this time is I will not be the only coach. I have a team of 10 coaches at Centre for Fathering who are trained in Solution Focused coaching who can help in this training which includes pre and post adventure coaching. During the adventure training itself, each teen will be coached after each adventure. That meant at least 4 rounds of individual coaching per teen! Wonderful growth for the teens and good practice and learning for Centre for Fathering coaches. Solution Focused Coaching is a great engagement for teenagers, teachers, parents and managers. Coaching is my other passion in life. I help organisations (schools, companies, social work agencies) build a coaching culture for empowering engagement. #coaching #confidencebuilding #centerforfathering #dadsforlife #solutionfocused

Do you struggle with tattling in your classroom or at home? As a teacher, I know how draining it can be to have 20-plus children coming up to you all day long and tattling. As a parent, it can be frustrating and make your weekends feel like you are putting out fire after fire. But why do children tattle? They don't know how to solve the problem themselves and come to us frustrated, angry, and sometimes sad. So how can we fix it? We can empower our children to believe they can solve problems themselves. I have my students repeat after me, "We are problem solvers. How do we solve the problem?" After repeating this phrase, my students reported not being upset, angry, or frustrated. They said they were confident and more joyful. We need to help shift their mindset. This simple shift in mindset has made a huge difference. Students go from feeling defeated to finding solutions to solve the problem independently. Problem-solve together. If they can't figure it out, they can bring another student into the conversation and process it together, with me as the mediator. I am not the one doing most of the work they are. By doing this, I've noticed that the classroom environment is better because they know they can tackle challenging situations. Imagine a student coming up to you and saying they are having difficulty solving a problem and need your help. It has a very different feel to it, doesn't it? You can ask them what they have tried, whether it was successful, and what else they could try. Then, put their suggestion into practice and report to you to let you know if it worked or didn't. Do you have suggestions for empowering children to solve problems or curbing tattling? Let's discuss this in the comments. The post is based on my 30-plus years as an educator and coach. You've heard it on the news, From your friends, And maybe even from your kids... They're disconnected, overwhelmed, and anxious. Social media shows them everything they're "supposed to be" School is so much more than it was when we were kids The news is full of negativity, doom, and doubt And no one is actually talking to anyone anymore It makes sense that high school students (and their parents) are more anxious, more stressed out, feeling anything but confident. But it doesn't have to be this way. And I'm doing something about it! Beginning August 12th and continuing for 16 weeks, GROUP COACHING for high school students (ages 15-18) begins. WHY GROUP COACHING? Connection. Support. Accountability. Encouragement. There are only 10 spots available so be sure to message me NOW to find out how you can claim your spot. #parentingteenagers #groupcoachingforteens
