Last week, our CEO Jonathan Beck, published an open letter on our website articulating what #GIVING3.0 is. I thought I'd share his powerful words and the innovation that WeGive brings to the table. Why do we give? At WeGive, we believe when people give, they purchase a product for their identity. This giving commerce purchase is more than a transaction; it’s an investment in their identity and purpose. Giving should provide evidence their life is meaningful, and they should feel moved by the difference they are making. This sense of purpose is not delivered via UPS or FedEx; it is delivered via communication and conveyed through every interaction with your organization, both digitally and in person. Whether you're a nonprofit, ministry, or church, you are selling a sense of purpose to your supporters. Unfortunately, most organizations are unable to do this well because they are stuck in the Giving 2.0 era, where supporters fill out generic forms, are redirected to a homepage, and are subsequently treated as mere ATMs through impersonal newsletters and mailing lists. Even churches, who gather weekly in person, struggle to meaningfully communicate the important work they do in a personal way, especially outside of Sunday. To keep givers giving, all organizations need to do the same thing: make their supporters feel moved and communicated with about the difference they are making through their support. This has always been done, and will always be done, with highly personalized, meaningful storytelling and relationships. The problem is the effort to scale personalized and meaningful communication with the right privacy and tone has historically been out of reach for organizations with a very limited staff capacity and a Giving 2.0 technology stack. You cannot power a meaningful, personalized digital relationship when your database is not made to power digital relationships, your team is stuck with disconnected for-profit marketing software and static giving forms built over a decade ago treating every supporter the same. This is why we built WeGive, the first Giving 3.0 platform.  By treating everyone, regardless of their donation size, like a valued individual with a real relationship to your organization, and by telling the story of their support and why it matters, they will give more, more often, and get more meaning from you. Year. 🥂 As we chase our final deal today, I can't express how grateful I am to do this work, to work with this exceptional all-women team, and to get to do things our way, which means putting our clients first, giving generously, raising money for charity, and never taking ourselves too seriously. What a great morning! M3 Commercial Moving & Logistics sponsored a child this morning for the UMOM New Day Centers Shopping Spree. Our President, Justin Hodge, is a prominent member of #EC70 and does a great job in ensuring we continue to drive community initiatives like this one. To see the joy on 150 children’s faces was incredible - and a great reminder that we need to play a part in supporting those in need. All of us do. I’d urge you to consider what you and your company are doing to give back. If your reaction is, “I don’t think we do anything” maybe it’s time to talk to someone internally about it. Be the catalyst for community support. If the reaction is “our company won’t support anything financially” maybe it’s time to consider supporting a community initiative with your time. There are so many great charitable organizations that need volunteers. As me and my daughter drove to the event this morning, she claimed, “Dad, this is like a Daddy/Daughter date morning!” It brought a smile to my face - and she’s 100% right - in fact, it was one of the best dates we’ve had in a while. So that’s my challenge to you: 1. Be the catalyst for your company to engage more with charitable organizations. It could be with financial support, but it also can be to get team members engaged with their time. PS - there aren’t better #teambuilding events than ones that give back. 2. Plan a Daddy/Daughter, Daddy/Son, Mommy/Daughter, Mommy/Son, Spouse date that engages a community event. Last, if you’re reading this, what community organizations are you involved in and what are you and your organization doing to give back? For those not involved, maybe you get inspired reading the comments to research a charitable organization to support. Don’t hesitate to elaborate how to get involved if you know. It’s the holiday season. And the world is a better place if you commit to supporting your community.
