How to produce? The difficulty of reliable meta-analyses and standardization of techniques is already very difficult and time-consuming. How to create intervention groups and control groups? What options do we have??

The complex nature of surgical research Randomized controlled trials #RCT in #surgery are difficult, expensive and take long time to recruit. When the results are there, they are debatable and the surgical #practice either moved away (as in case of laparoscopic surgery) or stay unaffected (as in case of bowel preparation). How to tackle this? This was a talk delivered in #Portsmouth conference 2024 The take home messages: 1. We need better #data 2. We need better interpretation of #data 3. We need dedicated #research I would like to thank Jim Khan for his kind invitation as well as the team in #Portsmouth for their great efforts to make this trendsetting conference Guglielmo Niccolò Piozzi also Andrew, Seyad, Najaf et al It was great to have many good discussions with colleagues Jared Torkington Frederic Ris Michel Adamina Nuha Yassin Eloy Espin Lars Thomas Seeberg #AfsanaElanko #KhadijaZouari #CarolineKovacs #Patricia Tejedor et al

3moHow to improve our intervention groups and which ones to compare with? Standardizing analysis is very difficult. What suggestions do we have for improvement? Can AI help us with anything??
