🚨The long-awaited Darzi Report is out, and in the words of Wes Streeting: It is “an honest, expert, comprehensive report on the appalling state our health service is in.” Whilst we await the next steps to be outlined by the Prime Minister, it is clear that Lord Darzi believes a bold plan is needed to ensure a healthier future for all. And there is encouraging news for Primary Care! Our interpretation of the recommendations includes: 🌿 Integrated Care Networks: Uniting GPs, community services, and social care for more seamless, patient-centred care. 💡Prevention at the Core: Shifting focus from treating illness to preventing it, with personalised plans and proactive health management. 📱 Better Access: Offering same-day appointments, extended hours, and innovative digital services for greater convenience. 👩⚕️ Strengthening Our Workforce: Expanding and diversifying our healthcare teams with more GPs, nurses, and allied professionals. 🏠 Community-Based Care Models: Bringing care closer to home, particularly for the frail and elderly. We must try to make the best use of existing technology and systems in place, with a need to drive productivity. We recently discovered that Doctors in Distress runs a Wednesday Support Group for all healthcare professionals. Held via Zoom each week 12:30-1:30 pm supported by an experienced facilitator. Participants are encouraged to chat informally and confidentially with other healthcare professionals on themes led by the group. So, if you are suffering from stress, or burnout, and have questions about self-care, this could be the confidential space you’ve been looking for. Every year on the 10th of September, organisations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness about how we can work together to create a world where fewer people die by suicide. World Suicide Prevention Day is a chance for us all to come together, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps towards preventing suicide and supporting those who may be struggling to cope. Recent data from the Office for National Statistics has shown that the rate of suicide is now the highest it has been since 1999. Healthcare workers will make up these tragic statistics. Feeling inspired and energised after a fantastic day at Management in Practice London yesterday! 💪We just love getting on the road, and meeting the community face-to-face. Especially, Mark Ayriss and Carla F. who were on hand to talk about digital telephony. We were particularly thrilled to hear how popular our sponsored presentation was. The 1st of September marked another 10th anniversary for one of the X-on Health team (people seem to like it here)! For this one, Debbie H., our illustrious Sales Director wrote a few words… “Mark Ayriss is a highly valued member of the new business team at X-on Health and has grown from strength to strength during his 10 years with us. He is without doubt a highly skilled salesperson with a consultative approach. Also a strong team player who furthermore delights his co-workers with lots of his little 'once upon a time' stories, which he regularly recounts to us.
